Changing Hydraulic Filters

What about the fluid in the lines, etc, when you change to the F200 or the Synthetic. Do you have to flush it or is it compatible with what little is left?? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif
I've thought of changing due to our cold winters. I only have 40 hours, but this tread started me thinking about it. And of course my 50 hour service will be coming up shortly.

According to the Amsoil web site:
AMSOIL Hydraulic/Transmission Oil is fully compatible with conventional hydraulic/transmission oils. To install AMSOIL Hydraulic/Transmission Oil in a hydraulic system, drain the existing hydraulic/transmission oil, change filters and install AMSOIL Hydraulic/Transmission Oil.

First off I would like to say that I'm not trying to discredit the need to change fluids when needed, I just want to throw out some explanations as to why the recommendation is not made now.

Ford always recommended this oil change at 50 hours this is why a lot of dealers still do this. New Holland has pulled away from this idea of needing to change the fluids by using smaller micron filters than where used on the earlier ford tractors

We also have better grades of oil now than several years ago.

at our dealership we still reccomend the 50 hour oil change just for the assurance and peace of mind 50-60 dollars worth of oil is worth, dont you think!

I agree that it's a small price to pay to ensure longevity of such an investment.

One of the biggest reasons for not recommending more frequent fluid changes is pressure on manufacturers to make their equipment more environmentally friendly. Less oil changes mean less waste oil so the Mfg can say that their equipment requires x gal's of oil less than prior years models.

When I got my new pickup (2003 Silverado) I was surprised to find that there is not a recommended oil change interval at all. The computer figures out when it shoud be changed and alerts you when it's time. This is the same reasoning it makes the Mfg look better in the eyes of the EPA.

Just re-read your original post; "2 filters"?

I have a TC30 also (gear) and can find only one. I assume the other is for your hydro???

One is referred to as the "HST filter"
The other "hydraulic filter."

I just called my NH dealer and asked about the F200 hyd fluid and got the following answer. They stock the standard NH134 hyd fluid but not the F200. Why? They are also a Kubota dealer and while they would order the F200 if 'demanded' by a customer, they use Kubota's Super UDT instead. Interesting.

Their price for the Super UDT is;
1 gallon - $14.44
2.5 gallons - $33.00
5 gallons - $63.50
