I'm trying to change the fuel filter (on engine) on my 1070. The manual says to remove the bowl, turn the top ring counter clockwise. Can't get it to budge. It looks to me like the ring should turn clockwise to remove it, but maybe I'm looking at it wrong. Sure dont want to break it.
Does anyone know from experience, when you're looking at the fuel filter assembly from the top, do you turn the ring clockwise or counter clockwise?

It is clockwise..

Turn it "off".. doesn't have reverse threads. Grab it and turn to the left.
Just a ring holding the bowl tight to the fixture above.

So if looking from the top, it would be clockwise. Looking up from the bottom, counter clockwise.

May have to get a large channel lock to get a hold of the ring to turn it.. have had to do that because it can be in a spot that is too close to get a good grip with the hands.

Lefty loosy, righty tighty. Channel loc pliers are your friend.

Must be a manual writer's thing, to describe turning something with threads using reference to a clock.

Especially nowadays, when clocks are going digital. And if one stands behind a clock, it reverses the clockwise and counter clockwise reference. LOL

Lefty loosy, righty tighty makes much more sense.. :D

If you're looking at one of these, the ring turns towards the red arrow:

Thanks everyone. Exactly what I thought, but by trying to go by the manual I've now got it so tight it'll never come off.

I've had to TAP the ring w/ a screwdriver & hammer a time or two to get them started.. or a LARGE pair of Channel Locks OR a large filter wrench.
Just throwin ideas out there for ya.. good luck & DONT break the ring.!! I think u have to buy the whole assembly if u do. $$$

Lightly tap the ring in the correct direction with a large flat blade screw driver & hammer. It will come loose. Diggin It does it correctly with that picture.

Righty tightie - lefty loosey depends upon your relationship to what you are working on.
