CD ( Certificate of Deposit ) Rates...????

Anyone find any decent rates for up to 24 mos...? I mean above 1% interest...Sickening isn't it ..?

Nope. No one is paying anthing more these days. IRA'a roth or traditional at moderate to high risk is the only way to get decent interest.

The best I've seen where I do business is 1.75% @42 mos....and down hill from there. But I'm not much of a shopper or money smart either. Who knows, maybe they will want to charge the customer a fee for holding the money....:irked:

The highest APR for a 24 month CD at CD Rates by Bankrate.com is 1.2%.

My IRA is invested in mutual funds. I spread it out among eighteen different funds. Each fund is in a different sector of the economy or if in the same sector are invested in different companies. For the last six months they have performed from making 30% to loosing 10%. Overall I have made over 10% in six months.

If you do this you have to keep an eye on it and never panic.

Well, look at the bright side. At least your taxes won't be very high on interest earnings. Plus, it helps keep you below the threshold of the Health Care special tax of 3.8% on "unearned" income.

Thanks Mo...I hear ya....I just think it stinks...We are paying the government debts with this -0- interest...all on the backs of savers...I guess they want folks to take risks or not save at all...Keep 'em broke & hungry...LOL

Even the credit union that I've used for 50 years is only paying 0.15% for a 3 month CD to 1.243% for a 60 month CD.

Like " oldballs" posted...I have actually heard some banks are charging for deposits....can you imagine such a thing ????
