Before the feline lovers start sending me threatening messages, look at the picture. My boss wanted some kind of small fire ring to give his wife, who loves their 4 or 5 cats. He gave me the top screen and asked if we could fit it to something in the weld shop. Scrounging around out back I located a large concentric reducer and the larger end was a good fit for the screen.
I gave the guys in the shop a silhouette of a clipart cat for the four cutouts (catouts?). They added tabs to support the top screen, holes for air and a stainless grate inside to elevate the wood above the round holes. Then they tacked stainless mesh on the inside of the cutouts to reduce the excitement of sparks popping out. Gave it a shot of HR flat black and everyone was happy.
