Hi all,

we are considering either a BX (1860 2360) or a GR2110. The lot is a bit over 4 acres, more than half is grass that will need mowed. In winter, (Ontario) I need to clear snow from about 100 feet of gravel driveway - and maybe also clear a path to a barn 150' away.

I kinda think if we get the GR model I'd regret it later. I'm sure sooner or later I'll want to do more than just mowing and blowing snow.

If we do go for the BX, any recommendations on what to use for snow? Dealer suggested rear mount blower, and said it's much less expensive. I am wondering if a loader or plow would work for this?

Thanks!

You will be better off with a BX or maybe a B
As far as hp concerns a 18hp+ will do you fine
I have a rear snowblower and it does a fine job for me but not everyone likes the rear mount setup so get out and try both setups at the dealer of your choice
A FEL is something I would not be without in any circumstances
Seeing you have 4ac there will be a defenite use for it and once you get the hang of operating it you will agree
Good hunting!

We bought our property this past spring. I faced a similar dilemma. I went round and round, looking at GR's in Orange and X series in Green.
What was I thinking?

When I got done with the pricing, looked hard at the options I wanted, such a 3 pt hitch, full hydraulic snow blade, etc, I abandoned the whole Big Garden Tractor route and got the BX1860. I have come to love it, love it, love it. Sooooooooo, glad I went BX. No comparison in re-sale value either.

I suspect you may come to the very same conclusion. Best wishes on your deliberations.

If it helps your decision making, I went with the front plow. Yes, more money than a rear blade, and about the same or somewhat less than rear blower. I just hated the thought of cranking my neck.

I love the front blade. Zero financing bundled in. I have ZERO regrets of springing for the 60" front plow. We just had 14" of wet snow here, and I plow almost a half mile lanes and drives. It's a champ!

No question, BX; can't get more bang for the buck.

Thanks for the responses! I'll look closer at the B and BX models.

I should have some time later this week to visit the local dealer again and see some different setups.

Get the BX! Get a cheap back blade to start with and a FEl for the first year. It'll do all you need. The 2nd year you'll know whether what you have is fine or you want a blower. Mowing is the BX's strong point but the tractor will do so much more. You will never regret your purchase if you're considering a GT type.

BX hands down. if you gonna finance it- get the front mount blower in the deal- not because it might be back ordered and has rear in stock. Either a blower or front plow will work for you.
