BX 24 HST fan shortcut - anyone?

Cut in half, glue etc.
I am going to do this today. ANyone beside SEODave do this? Maybe famous last words but doesn't look too tough.

Just to be sure it's clear - you don't need to cut the fan entirely in half. Just one cut will suffice and maintain more structural integrity. It takes some twisting but you can get it around the drive shaft with only one cut.

Mine's held for at least 20 hours now.
Just checked it yesterday. Everything is intact. Ziptie is still holding.

I might have fixed this in 5 minutes. I just cut out the face of the new fan, cut it in half and slipped it over the old one(with no blades). I didn't even raise the tractor. I used some super glue type cement and I was going to put a screw or two in to hold it down but I decided not to. Seems to be plenty of clearance. If it doesn't work I wasted 5 bucks but if it does - wow. I will post an update after I use it. I am letting the cement set for 24 hours.

Not a bad idea. Certainly provides plenty of surface area for the glue to bond to.

May be tough to pull that trick off twice though. Get a skid plate.

Absolutely. I knew I needed it but didn't want to spend the $. Dumb....
