Massey 1710 / 1758, Ventrac 4500Y / TD9
I'm shopping for a Kubota Grand L6060 but don't know how to outfit it with options. This tractor will manage about 80 acres, with 60 forested acres and 20 acres of level to moderately sloped pasture to mow. I need to mow the 20 acres a few times a year to keep weeds and fire danger down. There will be some up/down and side slope while mowing, but not bad. I think my small Massey SCUT could do all of it without fear of tipping-- if I am careful to only do the steeper slopes up/down, and not side to side. Farming could happen in the future, but it would be limited in scope and it would be years out.

Although expensive, I will get a cab model with air ride seat. Just too hot and sunny in summer, and bones too old to not do that. I know I need to be careful with a cab model in the woods. If there is anything too tight, I can use my Massey SCUT instead. I don't think I will need the cab defoggers since most of my bad weather work will be in the heat of summer, not cold of winter.

There is an existing 6' bushhog at the property, along with some other implements. I will purchase a loader for sure, with SSQA. Not sure about the round back versus square back bucket? I will also purchase a grapple and Wallenstein skidding winch. Since I will have a grapple, it seems I do not need to spend the extra money for a 4 in 1 bucket? The grapple and winch will let me do some cleanup of logs on the property, plus produce some firewood in future years. My driveway is 1/4 mile long, well compacted but dirt, and I need to occasionally remove snow from it. I think the bucket will do that OK, and I don't think I need a snowblower since we don't get that much snow. I have a 4 wheel drive vehicle so I only need to remove enough snow for clearance. I do not need a completely clean driveway.

I would like a backhoe, but since I have a small backhoe on the Massey SCUT I don't think I can justify the expense of getting a second one, even though it would be much, much more capable.

There are many options for the L6060 I don't understand. For example, how many rear hydraulic valves should I get? What type? With the grapple, do I need three valves with the front loader? How about the various transmission options? I will ask these questions at the dealership, but am hoping to get some feedback from actual owners/operators before I go kick tires. And I am curious about which features and options on your tractor you frequently use, or any features or options you wish you would have purchased?

Thanks for any feedback or assistance, including any negotiating tips on how to handle the sales process!

Very broad question. You might rethink the defoggers but someone with more experience can chime in. Impossible/prohibitive to add later?

A top-n-tilt kit for the 3pth would be high on my list after the stuff you already listed. That preferably needs two rear remotes. Then it's very nice to have a 3rd rear remote for any hydraulic impliments.

You'll need to decide ag/R1 vs industrial/R4 tires.

For the grapple many people prefer a true 3rd function with electric diverter valve. However, it can also be done with mechanical diverter or off a rear remote. LOTS of threads on this.

I've only run a 4 in 1 (Drott) bucket on a full size backhoe but... My opinion is a grapple and box blade is a better combo for CUTs. However, many people love their Droitt buckets.

All my opinion. Happy to spend your money but I'm really just jealous of your machine.

Nice choice of tractors;I would add the third function(front hydraulics)
for the grapple. You want the HD round-back bucket and don't think
you would need a 4 in 1 if you have a grapple.
Light snow fall is better handled by a decent rear blade rather than
the bucket(FEL).Mine is 7ft.wide and works well.
I believe your only transmission option is the HST+ on the Grand L's.
A back-hoe is a huge expense and hard to justify and you already have a
small so I would pass on that.

Looks like you have captured most of what you need. I would have the dealer install the 3rd function valve for the grapple, load the rear tires and no less than 3 rear remotes. And, as Luke mentioned, a top-tilt kit. You can add this option yourself.

As mentioned, it looks like you have a pretty good idea of your needs and I second the HD buck, I've had it on both mine.

My L5740HSTC is finally set up they way I should have bought it originally: HD bucket, air ride seat, defrosters, rear window wiper/washer, third function, 3 rear remotes with TnT, filled Industrial Tires, two sets of wheel weights.

I've added a right side step, expanded metal radiator guard as well as brush guards.

I rent an excavator when needed so no back hoe.

Ag vs Industrial, I have tractors with Ag, Industrial as well as Turf, so get what works best for you.

I have gotten two quotes for the tractor and equipment listed below. The quotes vary by *thousands* of dollars. The quoted items are a little different, since one dealer works well with Brand X accessories and the other Brand Y. So I need to work through that. Both quotes were $50k+ for a cash purchase.

Kubota Grand L6060, Cab model, air ride seat, Side and rear defrosters, rear wiper, Radio with CD, Loader w/SSQA, HD round back bucket, Grapple, 3 functions in front, Skidding winch, 3 rear remotes, Top n Tilt for 3pt hitch, 7' Rear blade, Loaded tires.

fyi I know nothing about loaded tires. One dealer said they would load them with water? I thought there was something heavier that is typically used?

Water is free, rimgard is costly, but heavier and will not freeze in Nevada. Get an 8' rear blade with skid shoes. A 7 footer is to narrow for your tractor. With a 7' blade at a 35* angle, you are only about 66" wide. At 45* you are only 60" wide. The tractor will handle an 8 footer fine. Be sure to get a rear blade that has at a minimum of hydraulic actuated blade angle.

This blade is the ideal blade for your tractor.

Be sure to keep in mind that there can be HUGE differences when it comes to implements, they are not all created equal.

Just My Opinion, others will vary. ;)

I'm getting a L4060 as soon as I sell my L3200...

R4 tires (probably loaded with bio-ballast, but might try it without first)
Loader with SSQA
Air ride seat
3 rear remotes, 2 float, 1 detent
TnT (float remotes)
Thinking about a 3rd function, although I may engineer & install it myself
Probably going to get the rear defroster & bigger alternator as well

Stuff I'll get & install myself:
Radio
LED light bars front & rear
Probably a cheap HF QH unless they make me a real good deal on a LandPride
Snow chains front at least, maybe rears

Will be selling my 60" rotary cutter & 3pt blower to get wider ones. Might sell my SSQA plow as well & make another one that is hydraulically angled this time. Have an old beat up truck plow to get started on at some point.

Talked myself out of draft control & see minimal value in the hydraulic spill guard, at least at almost $1k.

Check out my thread on the 4060 I just got for some info on the kubota third function set up. The way kubota does it on the 4060 leaves the plumbing exposed under the tractor. I don't know if it is the same on the 6060, but I'd want to know before I bought it.
