brush hog for L3130DT

I was wondering if anyone runs a 6ft brush hog on their L3130 or is 5 ft the limit. All coments appreciated.

I have a L3130HST and run a 5 foot brush hog. I have no problems with power. I know I could run a 6 foot but I would be more concerned with the added weight. I am also in WV and mow some pretty steep hills. Having that extra weight out back is something I would not choose......but then again I mow some pretty steep stuff.

I have a 5 footer on my L3000DT (30 hp). It's all my tractor can handle in tall weeds and moderate slopes around my house.

I've an L3410 GST (about 470 hours), and had a medium duty 5' Woods for the initial 2 years it took to clear my property. The prior response about weight is germane, as that BB600 weighed about 1040 pounds and my 3ph REALLY knew that cutter was there; I always kept the FEL on to counterbalance the tractor a bit. Sometimes in heavy stuff (pine saplings, modest sized wax myrtles, tall and thick patches of weeds and vines) I had to back off, and either proceed forward at my lowest speed, or cut a 2/3's width. I've graduated to a light duty 6' Woods (which is "medium duty" for many brands, and weighs about 700 lbs), as things are now a bit tamer on my property - - but - - if I let things go for 4 weeks in the summer, I have to cut 2/3 widths in the heavy grass/weeds. So, can your tractor handle a 6' cutter - depends on the stuff you intend to cut. I'd have said you had a 5' cutter limit if an HST, as such is highly convenient but saps pto power and would make things marginal for a 3100 series, but with a DT and a reasonably easy mowing situation, have at it.
