Found a grease zerk sheered off of one of my tie rod. Trid using a chisle to get a bite & tap it out, but no go. I could drill it out, but the one bit close in size is a bit dull. I've ran into a few busted zerks recently not to mention some other bolts & what not. Any good recomendations for bolt extractors?

I was looking at the $32 Irwin 10 piece kit, but am now thinking I might as well get the big kit for the other sizes I'll probaby eventually need.

Thoughts? Suggestions?

I typically just use standard easy-outs. Usually because I have a ton of them in the cabinet.

Those irwin ones that have the large hex drive and finer teeth....they work well too.

I cannot attest to the quality of the drill bits, but see that irwin kit comes with left handed bits as well. Thats usually step one when removing broken bolts, as alot of times thats all thats needed. But have never needed to drill to remove a grease zerk....singe they are hollow already. Just pick the spring out if its still in there.

For real difficult stuff, I do like the square profile extractors as well that Curly Dave mentioned.

I saw several Lincoln branded ones on Amazon for around $10 each. Unfortunately they are all SAE & the Kubota is Metric (M6 for the zerk threads). I assume the extractor might work, but not the tap & driver part.
