i broke the boom end of my woods 9000. ive probably pushed this thing to hard for to long. the steel thickness welded to the sleve is about 1\8 thickness. im going to 1\4 inch and weld it all back together and hope it holds. enybody else don this to there machine.bill

Before you do any welding, contact Woods Equipment on their 1-800) 319-6637 number and talk to one of their tech guys as they MAY have an engineered repair that you can follow-it's a free phone call-what the hey?

ive got it almost done now. i will save the number if need to call in future.thanks.i will post some repaired pics on later.bill

it fel apart while working on a stump. 8 years of hard use fatigued it. i used 1\4 flat stock. shaped it. to replace old steel.

Looks good!

You may want to put some 1/4 or even just 1/8 inch strapping a ways up from the repair to help spread the stress from the 1/4 repair further up the boom?

Just a thought...

The older, pre 2001 I think, CAT backhoes had the same problem. The new style has a lot more metal up there than previous.
