Kioti CK2510 / Allis Chalmers B
Hello, I have a Kioti ck2510 4x4 and was wondering what size box blade I should get. The owners manual is not very clear on much of anything. The tractor is about 49" wide with the r4 tires, Weighs about 3,000 lbs with the fel and 24.5 HP. I want to use it for grading driveways mostly but also in harder dirt. I have a 5' scraper blade that I use with no problems at all. I know the box blade takes a lot more power to pull full of material, so would I be pushing my luck with a 5 footer? Should I go with a 52" if I can find one? I want to be able to grade driveways with ease. I don't want to be fighting it the whole way. Thanks.

If you can find a 52 that would probably be best, I pull a 6ft with my 40HP and mine does fine, if I have the teeth really digging into something is it a lot of load on the tractor but for grading a driveway you can always make multiple passes kind of like a tiller and keep it shallow.

I was looking at the owners manual for my CK4010 se the other day, and there is a chart with recommended attachment sizes for the CK tucked in there someplace.

Look around some, a 54" unit would fit your requirements very well IMO. If there were anyway to get a 4-500lb unit at the 54" width, that would work very well for you.

I pulled a 5 blade behind mine when I had it, no problems

For another comparison, I've pulled a 5-ft. Howse box blade (around 400 lbs) behind my little Kubota B2150HST (24 hp, about 2300 lbs with loader) for many years. Mostly maintaining a 3/4 mile access road of crusher run. Even with a full box of wet stone, I've never had a problem in medium range.

The implement manufacturers list the HP requirements for their products. Might be worth checking. Implement weight could affect the HP required. Tractor manuals do not know what implements you will buy.

The tractor manufacturer has no way to know what you may buy, but they do have recommendations , published in the owners manual, recommending what size implements of various types are suitable for each tractor model.

At least Kioti provides that information in their manuals.

Agreed. But as the pirate captain said in Curse of the Black Pearl, "[it's] more what you'd call 'guidelines' than actual 'rules'." :)

The Kioti manual says I could use a 7' box blade with my CK3510SE HST. Well, I could, but I think that would be too big for anything but light grading. I think 6-ft would be my recommendation for that tractor. The 7' Woods BB that I use with my NX4510HST Cab is 750 lbs. empty. With a full load of wet stone, even without the scarifiers down, it works the tractor at full power in medium range. By contrast, the manual for my 25 y/o B2150HST recommends only a 4' box blade. Yet, as I posted earlier, it handles a 5-ft 400 lb. BB easily in medium range. Now, if I put all the scarifiers down 3" and try to rip up turf, it'll bog it right down. So sizing an implement depends a lot on the type of work you'll most often demand of it, and how quickly you expect to get it done. A secondary consideration is the width of the tractor with the tires you're using, and how much, if any, you want sticking out beyond covering your tracks. If you'll be grading a road, or making trail with trees, stumps, curbs, or timber/stone retaining walls hard by the edges, a few extra inches of extension can make for some interesting experiences.
