Battery Powered Well Pump?

Not sure where to post this question so I posted it here.

I've got an 1 1/4" well that I drove a couple of years ago to provide water to my hunting property for drinking and the ocassional spraying that needs to be done. It's about 45 feet deep and I have been using a pitcher pump on it as there is no electricity to the property. It's rather tedious filing 5 gallon buckets then transfering that to my sprayer. I'm wondering if anyone makes a battery powered pump that would work on my well? I've talked with Northern Tool and they didn't carry one.

The only other options I see is to spend the money on a generator to operate an electric pump, or try one of the deep well hand pumps you see at state parks (more volumn of water with each pump vs a pitcher?).

Any ideas?

Have you considered Solar Powered? Search Google for solar powered water pumping.

I was looking into this a while back for a remote plot I was thinking about buying. I ended up not getting the property, so I have no first hand experience. They are out there though. I searched for "12 volt submersible Pump" and came up with this...

This one seems a little pricey. I think you could find something cheaper.

I think the smallest jet pump sold should do the job so see what the watts would be required. If you would set it up as a low or no pressure system the electrically demands may be less.

However if you are not there much it is going to be a pain to keep up and drain if freezing. Your current system may be faster.

Here's one that may be what you're looking for...little submersible pump

This is a cheap little one that you could pack with you. You'd drop it in the well when you needed water, and then take it home with you when you're done.

You say it's 45' deep, but where's the water level in the pipe? Flojet makes nice pumps, but you'll have trouble keeping prime if you have to lift over 20 feet. Also, you're not going to get a jet inductor or a submersible pump into a 1-1/4" pipe.

Quick question, did you use schedule 80 for your drive pipe? I'm planning to drive a well this summer...

I'm fortunate to have a flowing well, but not enough gpm for my needs. I'm not sure what pipe I used, I got it from a client of mine in the well business. It was fun to drive. I started out by digging a 4ft hole with a post hole digger, then hand drove the point with a 4ft section of pipe. That took way too long and too much energy, so I went and rented an air hammer and generator and drove it that way. It was much, much easier than driving it by hand.
