This has happened before, but perhaps to a lesser extent. To my knowledge, all Teslas come with a physical key. The drivers affected are the ones that chose to rely solely on the mobile app. That's not a bright move, IMHO.

Access to mobile apps of all types is a concern we all have in this internet age. Hanging onto a physical key sounds like a good idea. My concern is this happening to my bank access.

I would not want to rely on Bluetooth security to keep my car from being unlocked, or on tesla servers for using my car.

When you get your Tesla remember to keep up with the key that comes with it so you are not dependent on Tesla servers and your cell phone for using your Tesla.![]()
The fact remains it will be 2030 before there are enough batteries to meet the demand for EV's.
