Our house was built in 1970. Master Bathroom and all the other's have not been touched since then. We have 2 single vanity's and a standard cast iron tub/shower. Wanting to rip that all out and re do. Been looking at these all in one Steam Showers. Anyone have any experience with these?

Not that particular model but when we were designing our house we looked at putting a steam generator into the shower. In the end we did not do so because I did not want to pay for the power to make the steam and find a place for the generator. Sometimes I wish we had put it in.:laughing::laughing::laughing:

I will probably seldom use the steam portion. I just like the idea of the all in one set up. There are lots of different models, that's just one I was looking at.

We ended up installing plumbing for two shower heads. Originally, we had one shower head with a hand held and the other was one of those rain shower heads. The later did not last long due to mineral build up and we replaced it with another handheld shower head. The original shower head finally wore out and was replaced with a combination handheld shower head AND fixed shower head. You can switch between the two heads. The fixed shower head was just something have because the real feature we wanted was that the handheld is on a vertical pipe that allows one to make a height adjustment to the handheld shower head. DreamSpa Instant-Mount Drill-Free Height / Angle Adjustable 36-Setting 3-Way Shower Head / Handheld Shower with 22-Inch Stainless Steel Slide Bar, Chrome Finish - - Amazon.com

It not made of metal but it also does not cost hundreds of dollars and it does what it is supposed to do.

I we were to redo the shower, I think we would use a solid surface material instead of tile to make it easier to clean the shower.

The steam is very nice. Make sure you have good ventilation.

Just finished one but it wasn't prefab. We used the Steamist steam generator and tiled the shower. What info do you want?

I'm not going to tile anything, I don't want the maintenance. Just looking for something simple and easy to install and also reliable. These things are free standing and an all in one unit.

I'm of little help then.

Ours doesn't look like your picture. It's a plain fiberglass shower with sliding glass doors. Has a steam head low down in the middle.

Seldom use the steam. Feels good on days when one does feel cold.

I installed steam in an all in one tub/shower. Has lamps, lights, speakers, whirlpool. The steam is awesome. Whirlpools are nice but steam goes to the bone. Great if you have a cold an will clear you up enough you can breath to go to bed and sleep. You don't need ventilation as one stated. It's enclosed and just turn the shower on, which you need to anyway to wash and the seam goes down the drain. Power consumption isn't even noticed on electric bill but then it isn't used every day...we love ours.
