Hoses and couplers on my Deere 5300 mfwd are needing replacement after 25 years of good service. We're replacing a few at a time when we do service.

We have quick connects and breakaways. All of the hoses that I have looked at currently have male ball end fittings.

I came across a box of the poppet type male ends. Are they interchangeable? I also have some unused male fittings that have ball ends with some taper in the fitting between the ball end and the section that seals. Are these interchangeable, or for use with a different female type?

Thanks,

Jonathan

The poppet and ball ends are interchangeable. The poppets have a slightly higher GPM rating. Your second question, if you are describing the coupler I think you are, is not interchangeable. A picture would help identify.

These are the three type of male ends I have, from left: tapered, ball, poppet.

Tapered male fitting will not interchange with other fittings.. The tapered fitting was utilized on JD tractor models 10-40 series built from 1960-1984. The other 2 style fittings in your photo are know as ISO fittings.

Agreed, my 2030 uses tapered male couplers and my 6415 uses ISO style. So you may want to get rid of the tapered style so they wont be used by mistake, unless you plan to buy an older JD

Mystery becomes clear. I had a friend with an older Deere and we did a bunch of concrete projects together swapping box scrapers and mixers back & forth.
If anyone can use them, let me know and I値l mail them over.
Thanks,
Jonathan
