I was playing with the top link holes to get more lift height. Using the bottom hole you get more lift height but the owners manual says to only use the bottom hole if there is some reason the top hole can not be used. So my question is which hole is everyone using and would there be any ill affects using the bottom hole.

I use the bottom hole for most implements.

There are always going to be questions on this one and some of the questions come from the varity of hitches built for tractors. There are true catagory one and then there are some that take in a wider or taller like cat. two or a bit narrower and lower for a catagory O hitch.

Use what works best for your conditions as well as the machinery. Some times you might only be able to use one hole or another and that is fine. Before you get started using the machine watch the hitch linkage move from the high to the low to check for any interference in the tractor hitch as well as on the machine.

johnK that section from your owners manual is far more detailed than the B3030 manual. The B Manual just says top hole is std and use the bottom hole when the top can not be used. I just want more lift height. There is times when i need the blade or tiller to raise higher.
I guess this spring i will try the bottom hole and see how that works. It may cause some problems with the tillers pto shaft. I will have to raise the tiller slow to make sure there are no drive train issues.

I use the top hole on mine. Seems to work fine on my equipment. The bottom hole will give more lift height if you need it. Just watch for interference between the top link and the top panel behind the seat when in the fully raised position. You don't want to bend up that pretty orange sheet metal. Good luck.

Also, I had to lower the top link mounting hole on this old Ford springtooth drag that I dragged out of the nieghbor's fencerow and rebuilt. In the original hole the top link was hitting the "S" clip when fully raised.

The sheet metal issue was the very first thing i checked. Actually it gives it more clearance than the top hole. I remember someone who did just that. What i really need is a hyd top link. It may be in the works for $600 ouch.
