Still looking...
Guys,

I've read other threads where there was some major rust, parts missing, etc...

Anyone have any suggestions on what to look for specifically when I take posession of it tomorrow?

Rust and where?
Anything to take apart and look at?
Any parts that may be missing?

I trust these guys, but just want to make sure, ya know? We also agreed he was going to put one together for me out of the crate.

Any help? Pictures to help also?

Thanks a lot!!

Tommy, First look for your camera, and charge it. We need picture.

If your getting one out of a crate, I wouldn't believe rust will be of concern.
Make sure you get 2 keys
The correct owners manual for THAT modle. You also get a seperate manual for your loader, and any other impliment you ordered.

Have dealer start at front and work back. Showing you what each line or control is.
Have him/you check eng. and hyd. fluid and show you where to fill.
Have him help set the seat spring. For your weight.
Have him show you how the dual brakes work and how the parking brake works and how to set and release it.
This sounds like a lot but this should only take 1/2 hr.

If you ordered a loader check for a level indicator, and have him explain it.

Than drive it. Foward and also backwards Work all controls.

Then park and check for any leaks. Should be bone dry.

Take multiple pictures and post.

Congrats, and good luck.
Be safe
Frank

Thanks Frank.

Anyone else with some good advice or things to watch out for, something you experienced, or anything?

Not sure if you took delivery yet today, but...

My L4240 had about 60 dealer hrs on it when I bought it. One of the turn signal lenses was cracked and the dealer gave me a replacement. There was also some rust on the bottom loader mount. The dealer said that this is common due to the way that Kubota crates the loaders. They said they usually touch it up before delivery but they missed it, so they gave me a few cans of spray paint.

Also make sure that all "removable" pieces that come with the tractor are in place, such as 3-pt top link, drawbar, etc.

A full tank of fuel would be nice, but I don't know if dealers usually do that. I think mine had 1/2 tank.

Good luck!

I have had a B2920 for about 16 months now and have really enjoyed it. I think mine was pretty well prepped other than missing some cotter pins. As it has been a while, I don't remember the details, but I think for instance the turnbuckles that adjust how far the the lower control arms can move out did not have cotter pins to keep them from loosening. I was at the dealer yesterday to get what I needed to change the oil and was joking with them about not having lost any parts for awhile so must be doing ok.

I noticed from another post that you had bought several pieces of equipment with the tractor. After a small battle with mine trying to get the brush hog off after using it the 1st time, I ordered and put the Pat's system on to make putting equipment on and off the 3 pt hitch easier. That or a similar system makes changing equipment a whole lot easier.

The other thing I would mention is when you take the front end loader off I found reconnecting the hydrolic hoses hard. Despite following the instructions of shutting off the engine and then moving the controller around to release pressure before disconnecting the hoses. I would tend to take it off early in the day and put it back on later after the sun had heated the hoses all day. So having a bolt handy to press the center on the female connector which will be still on the loader will releave the pressure allowing them to go back on easily. Don't have it aimed at you when doing this.

The other thing I have noticed is when cutting with the brush hog, it tends to drop a little as you cut and requires you to adjust it back up ever so often. I have tried tightening the knob near your calf that slows the rate the 3 pt drops and that helped, but did not eliminate the issue. So you have to watch it and bump it up. We use the MMM when we are not in heavy stuff or where we are afraid of hitting rocks as it is easier to use.

It is pretty overwhelming when the truck pulls up with your crazy new tractor. You really have to take a deep breadth and get focused.

When I traded by BX23 for my B3030 I thought I went through everything. We went through:
1. General stuff, what levers do what
2. How to drive it, ranges, 4wd in and out, diff lock
3. How to work the bh and loader
4. Took the loader on and off, bh on and off
5. MMM on and off
6. Front blade on and off
7. How to lock MMM up
8. How to change oil, filters, plugs
9. How to change hyd fluid, filters and plugs
10. Lights and stuff
11. How to take off stuff to get at engine
12. How to change air cleaner, never figured out inner element yet

The hydraulic line to the loader started to leak, a half turn with an adjustable wrench and it hasn't leaked in 2 years.

After all of this I notice about 6 months later that my loader is a little crooked, I still kick myself for not bringing up at delivery.

My advice is to take your time and try to think about every detail

Also, try not to have anyone around, my son was there, 3 yo at the time, and it really distracted me

I asked for a bunch of hats and gave me about 15

Forgot to add that I gave the delivery guy a $100 tip for his time

Since I have some fairly steep and hilly terrain I told my dealer I wanted the rear tires set out as far as they could be to give me a little added stability. The delivery guy almost was ready to offload when I realized I should be up on the trailer looking it over instead of snapping pictures:D Anyways when I got around to checking the rear tires they hadn't set them out all the ways. I really felt bad having them take it back but I had stressed this to them. They admitted it was their fault and took it back and re-delivered it the next day. Talk about a tease! Anyway you have gotten some real good information so far. My guy spent over an hour going over the tractor and all its features. Also if this is your first tractor don't forget to ask him about any attachments you are getting. Such as hooking them up, maintenance, and adjustments to them. Good luck

Ok, so it's finally mine, after many months, it's sitting outside... I want to ride around in the dark... but I'll refrain...

The guy who dropped it off was very helpful. I didn't give him a tip, BUT they still have to pick it back up, put on the BH and re-deliver, so I thought that would be the time. Have you all given your delivery guys tips? If so, how much?... just curious.... I tend to be cheap.

Here are some things I've noticed.
- The oil level in the engine is half way between the notches. I'm going to ask for some more oil to fill up.
- One of the grease fittings was missing on the FEL, but I ran to Tractor supply and bought some more, figure I'd need them anyways. While I was there, bought some extra D-rings and cotter pins.
- The cap going to the transmission case was rusted around the edge, but I think that may be common since it's where the paint may not get fully put on.
- The cap for the fluid for the front end was extremely hard to take off and put on. It seemed a little low, but I wasn't checking with it all the way in because once I finally got it back in, I wasn't going to try to take it back out - I can always do that later.
- There is very minimal rust, but there is some here and there... parts on the rops (looks like from transportation or being in the crate), corners here and there, etc.
- I also bought some hi-temp grease and wanted to grease everything just to make sure and when I did on the brush hog, the fitting came off on the grease gun. It wasn't screwed on hardly at all on one of the U-joints and the other was lose also. I tightened them and added grease... hope I don't have problems later on.

I'll call him next week to touch base, I think he'll take care of the oil part. Also just want him to know about the brush hog and the grease fitting missing....

Overall, the delivery went well.

Make sure the Bush Hog gear box has oil in it. These are delivered without oil at times. The engine oil level sounds like it is where it ought to be.
