Needs Carb cleaned. Jet has a little green crap in it or there is a bubble of water in the bottom of the carb. You can pull the large bolt like plug out on the bottom of the float bowl and clean it and turn your gas on and run a little through. Put it back together and see if it works. If not remove and clean carb.

Having to use the choke to keep it idling is usually a symptom of a clogged pilot jet. A good carb cleaning should get it running better than it has in a long time.

I agree with the above.

Those mikuni Carbs are not something you want to start your carb cleaning career on. Try sea foam in the carb overnight first by pulling the gas line from the bottom of the tank and running the line into the sea foam can, run machine till it smokes wildly and then shut it down overnight, reconnect lines in am and run till smoke clears, snood be good to go.

Make sure You don't have an air leak between the cyinder head and the carb.

While it's not known for this, Stabil (the product you put in to keep gas fresh) when used at 3x the label amount does a super great job cleaning carb and injectors. It's the best stuff I've found and it's not even supposed to do it!

You could also have bad gas. Today's gas is horrible garbage compared to what was pumped even 15 years ago. The addition of ethanol to please the corn lobby means more water in the fuel and more acid forms too. It can go bad in as little as 2-3 weeks if it's 85F or higher and humid. Drain the tank totally, put in new filters and fill with some fresh gas (and the 3x stabil added). You can put the suspect bad gas into a car or truck's nearly FULL tank at a rate of 1 gal of suspect to 5 gal of known good gas. Or just kill some weeds .;)

i took the carb halfway off last night, took off the sediment bowl there was a lot of crud in it, i then took the flote off cleaned that jet blew everything out reasembled, seams to be idleing better maby i will run it more this weekend, if it still dont idle, i will take carb completly off and clean all the jets drain gas clean filters, is it possible the atv is old and everying is wearing out? tu

Is it a 200 Big Red? If so I still have one and it's just a matter of sailing the carb overnight after you take it apart. Then blow all the jets out with carb cleaner and be careful not to break the rubber gasket. They still make rebuild kits for it that you can find online. Also make sure your tank isn't rusting. You may need to install a fuel filter if so. They also make plastic tanks to fit the model.
