I can't afford the grapple bucket so have been looking at the three mentioned grapples, the Arm seems to be the best built but doesn't have teeth on the arms. If you are using any of these or have another one that works great I would appreciate your comments. Thanks.

I have the Thumb and have been very happy with it. Wish I had bought a grapple years ago.

I to am using a thumb on my L48.Handy. you can pick up logs with the thumb, raise the boom and turn the whole arm to the left or right in the backhoe boom upright position and roll through tight places. If you are driving the end of the log is directly to your right or left and you can use left or right side for ballast when going up or down hills. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Paul--You can find all of the grapples on ebay listed under the search word, grapple. They can either be welded or bolted on to the top of your bucket, useful for picking up items such as logs, brush, stones, etc. The add on grapples usually sell for around $450, and that normally includes shipping as opposed to the grapple buckets that go for a minimum of $1200 to $1500.

I have a grapple made by Andy Tatro that looks identical to "The Thumb" grapple advertised on ebay. I installed my grapple on my rock bucket so I could use it logs, brush, and stones as you mentioned. The grapple is great; no bad issues whatsoever. Good planning on how you will mount the grapple and the hydraulics are the main things you will need to plan. I believe you could install this grapple on a bucket and route the hoses for $550 or less. The remote valve or diverter valve will add to that price if required. The link shows my grapple mounted on my rock bucket.

I would like to have Andy's contact info too.

I need a grapple this year and I have no time to build one myself.

A quick update.

Andy Tatro, Ebay seller Htatro, has once again put grapples up for sale. $420 which includes shipping. I just got one using Buy it Now.
