Personally, I wouldn't. If you hit a rock or stump, you could end up costing you a MMM gearbox or worse the transmission.
That is why there are shear pins or slipper clutches on anything that is going to be ground engaging.
I can tell you, a flail mower is a LOT safer than a rotary. Caution is still necessary. That is why highway crews use flail mowers on highways to avoid damaging cars and trucks as they pass on the highway. Though, I was surprised in one of the videos the camera person was walking like 2 feet from the mower filming following it. They nuts?!
You don't need to pick it up all the way, just enough to allow for it to glide as you turn. Takes a bit of practice.
I made the mistake the first time using my flail mower, that I tore up a whole section of field when I turned as the skids just dug into the ground.
