Key to success at blackjack is to memorize Basic Strategy, follow it w/o divegrance, raise your bets when you have the house's money. Still have to be at a table where the parabolic cureve is in your favor. Know when to quit.

Craps can get raucous but you have to stay calm and don't participate in the hype when the numers are rolling. Front line, come line, and place boxes when those numbers are coming up often. Always put at least the minimum odds bet on those numbers. DO NOT put money on the proposistions in the middle of the table, those odds are there for a reason. The odds on craps are below .5% for the house if you play that basic strategy and the same money management.

There are books on this stuff, get, read, practice and have fun/make a little money. Not a way to get rich.

I've been in Reno/Sparks working for over a month. In a hotel across the parking lot from the Legends Casino. I put $20 in the slot so I could drink for free and ended up playing for 2 hours. Been back in there to eat but haven't wasted my money on gambling.

My wife’s brother won a little over a million dollars in 2001, he is 66 years old now and still working and no sign of retirement

My Bi-Mart membership surprised me yesterday, in that first tuesday of every month they have a lottery for prizes. My number came up and I won a new Microwave.

What is a bi mart?
Pacific Northwest variety store, A little of everything and they usually beat other stores prices. Just bought Rotella diesel oil on sale there. It was $3.57 cheaper than any other local outlet.

Horse Races. When I was a teenager I went halves on a $2.00 bet with the the farm foreman. All I could afford.
It was what we called a boat race (Fixed race). Of course no one ever fixes a race! LOL

The President of the American Jockey Association was visiting the race track on this day. He was there to watch his son ride his only mount of the day. His son had never won a race and wasn't getting to many rides. The horse was going off at 99 to 1 odds at the time of the wager. There was a change to 80 to 1 just prior to the race, so there was some "late money" wagered.

Everyone at the back of the track was talking about this race, as in don't bet on this boat race. It won't look good if this nag goes off at lower odds, wins and the time is bad for 6 furlongs.

Anyway the annoucer should have called the race like this, going out to the front is "Sally Can Tell" followed by "Never Foggy", "The Old Nag" is third but gaining as the jockeys in the lead are holding thier horses back. LOL

"The Old Nag" won the race about 9 seconds slower than any normal race for this distance.

The jockey got his picture in the Winners Circle with his dad, the President of the American Jockey Association.

Hey there! That's quite the story, and it's always fun to hear about those rare moments of luck in gambling. It sounds like you hit the jackpot with that $20 in quarters!

He's passed away now but I knew a guy who was a regular at the local coffee shop most mornings.
After his wife died he started going to the casino in Niagara Falls Canuckistan.
He used to brag when he won. The casino used to comp him fancy rooms and meals. Never would he admit how much he lost to be getting these benefits.
He never went with less than $10,000 in his pocket.
As a couple he and his wife had amassed a pretty good personal fortune for a working stiff.
They had 4 houses and a helluva condo in Florida plus I'm sure investments enough to choke a hipopotamus.
By the time he died, about 2 years after his wife, it was all gone. Properties and investments gone.
He had moved into a scruffy apartment and was living on his pension.
At the funeral his son said he had to cover the expenses for the burial.
Casino should have at least sent flowers.
So much for all the money won.

I won't even go there for a show or meal.
For $10K every week (that's what he said he took but how much more he spent on credit etc...) I can buy me some interesting equipment.
Always liked the idea of buying one of those big excavators, I mean big, and just digging holes until I got bored with it.
Would get me just as far as Dominic got at the casino and at least they'd have a hole to bury me in.
