Any recommendations for a pedestal fan?

I have not had good luck with any recent fans except lasko brand Still running after four years. Others died after a couple of years

I've also had good luck with the inexpensive Lasko fans.

I've learned that you can triple the life in them by taking the blade off and give it a couple of drops of 3-in-1 oil down the shaft. It only uses a bushing there rather than a bearing and when it gets dry it wears out PDQ. Of course, blowing them out with an air hose every once in a while helps with motor longevity.

I just looked to get a pedestal fan. Everything I looked at was junk. I ended up getting a floor fan that can tilt up. Thankfully, that worked for me. I wish you luck in finding something that isn't junk. I was unsuccessful.

That's the problem I'm running into.
My grandmother, back in the '60's had a wonderful metal fan, about 24" diameter. 3 speed, oscillating, but just about took a forklift to move and would blow your hat off on high.

I'm currently having EXCELLENT results with a couple Vornado's. Move a lot of air and are about as quiet as you can get.

The problem with recommending a fan that lasts, is they quit making the "good" fan and start making less quality ones so they can run off the reputation of the good ones they made? Most of the good stuff I have, hasn't been made in a while....and if has been made in recently, then it doesn't have the longevity for me to recommend it!

Forgot to mention. I've got a Dyson Air Multiplier short pedestal fan. It actually cools the air and you can feel the breeze all the way across my living room. Very nice as the house warms up in the late afternoon.
