Another Plasma Cutter Question. 20a 220v Power Limitation

Greetings, thinking of picking up a plasma cutter for home workshop duties. Want one much more than actually need one. Realistically I may use it a few times a year and probably on 1/4" and lighter stock. My limiting factor will be power, looking for the best tool that will use a 6-20R 240v receptacle. Is there such an animal? Thank you...

Look at the Hypertherm powermax30. I have an older model, and it came with a L6-20p plug on it, and an adaptor to use it on a120 volt outlet.

I have cut .500" steel with it, but it was slow going.

The new version has several improvements in power output, and consumable life.

Yes Sir, no problem there, the compressor has it's own 240v circuit.

Look at the Hypertherm powermax30. I have an older model, and it came with a L6-20p plug on it, and an adaptor to use it on a120 volt outlet.

I have cut .500" steel with it, but it was slow going.

The new version has several improvements in power output, and consumable life.

Interesting, all the pics I've seen of the PowerMax30 show a 6-50R 240v adaptor plug (see pic), but I can't see what actually plugs into both adaptors.. I'm trying to use one of the 6-20R 240v receptacles from one of my car lifts.

On page 24 of the manual (available on the above page) it talks about the attached "NEMA
twist lock-style plug." -

You might need to make your own pigtail using a female cord-mount twistlock and a male that matches your outlets... Steve

Ok, thank you very much. According to that, the cutter comes with a twist lock L6-20P 20a 240v plug. I would just need to swap the locking plug for a regular 6-20P and should be good to go with my existing receptacles. Now to find the best price. if anyone has suggestions let me know. take care

I would swap the receptacle to a L6-20R or add a new one. At least untill the warranty runs out.

Can't help with where to buy. It's been so long, I can't remember. But is was an online store, that I could call in an order. Think I paid $1000 give or take. That was with the circle cutting atachment, and hard case. One of the best things I've ever bought.

From the above manual, the 120 Volt and 240 Volt adapters plug into the twist lock plug on cord of the PC.

On the plug, perhaps I'll make an adaptor L6-20R to 6-20P. Don't want to permanently change the current receptacles as I wouldn't be able to use one of the car lifts.

Best price I've seen on the plasma cutter is ~$1320 with free shipping...
