A few more new toys

I needed to buy a wood lathe for making 1" pegs for my old farm/ house project. I found this one locally. Actually in Junkman's territory for $30.00. The lathe came with the cabinet and 7 long handled tools, faceplate and calipers.

Today I picked up this Superwinch X3 model for $60.00. I plan on mounting this on the 3ph of my Cub with quick disconnect wire connectors. I can use this for hauling logs out of the woods when there are trees in the way of me getting close to them with the tractor. It will also be mount on the front brush guard of my pickup using quick connectors on the wires.

I was in a big rush Junkman. otherwise I may have stopped in. I needed to make some pegs for a corner post that I just installed in the farmhouse. The lathe came from Hamilton Resevoir area just above the CT. border.

Actually the guy had a band saw and the lathe listed for $65.00 for both. Somebody took the band saw and didn't want the lathe. The guy was moving and needed them gone as he was going to spend his summer at a campground until they found a new house to move into. He threw the cabinet in for free.
The guy today that I got the Superwinch from told me that he really screwed up on the price. He said he bought this quite a few years ago for $260.00. He had the J.C. Whitney catalog sitting there and said, " Look here, it now sells for $365.00" Then he said that if I don't buy it. He's going to cancel the ad and change the price to $120.00. That was a no-brainer for me.

O.K. so I was looking for an old forklift to scrounge the forks off of to make a pallet attachment for the FEL and a friend calls and says he found one for $700. He tells me it has no brakes and the battery is shot and the forks won't go down without some help. I go take a look and tell the guy I'll take it. Clark 4000 lb. power steering auto-trans. He drives it to the house and I drive it off the trailer (no brakes /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif) I pull it into the barn fix the broken brake line, straighten the hydraulic return line that the left fork has been banging on everytime the forks went down, change the oil and put a new batt. in. runs like a champ.
