Tractor
Craftsman Garden tractor
I had to retire the old 8n this month and take advantage of the deal Kioti was throwing out. To be honest, the 8n wasn’t capable of doing all I needed it to do. I had recently fixed (so I thought) the head gasket but to no avail.
Anyway, The Tractor is actually my FIL which he got from his dad. He wants it running correct but the old used patina to stay. So the body and metal work will remain the way it is save for the clear cost to protect it.
I plan on pulling it completely apart and replacement/rebuilding it to new condition mechanically. Is there a master rebuild kit for this thing? Engine/hydraulics/brakes/steering?
I mean this thing does need everything. It hasn’t been “right” in a LONG time and he just wants it to put around my farm and take it to shows but it needs to be sound and running well.
Also, what would be the best resource/shop manual to have to tackle this rebuild?

Yesterday's Tractor has everything you need for those old fords, Sometimes I think you could buy every single part and build a new old Ford.
Alot of the engine rebuilds are made in China though, but I have used them with no problems. You will need to do some research, the
engines have different sleeve thicknesses depending on year made and I think there is two different oil pump gears among other slight
variations from year to year. IT shop manual is fairly decent for technical adjustments.

I’m hoping Not to have to replace the engine. When I pulled the head it still looked good, it seemed straight with my straight edge but I think I may have it trued next time just to be sure. But I HAVE bought parts from Steiner and Yesterday Tractor and will most likely call them and get a kit thrown together.

Stevens tractor specializes in 8N parts. Stevens has DVDs illustrating old Ford rebuilds.

We specialize in new OEM tractor parts, reproduction tractor parts, and standard replacement tractor parts for Ford 9N, 2N, 8N, NAA, Jubilee, 600, 700, 800, 900 and all the series in between.

Tractor Parts Ford, Mitsubishi, Massey Ferguson, John Deere & Farmall Cub | Small Farm Equipment | Stevens Tractor Company LLC

Stevens' parts are usually less expensive than those from Yesterday's Tractors.
But....if something they ship you is wrong, or something is damaged in shipment,.... look out!
Stevens Tractor, and Complete Tractor, are apparently jointly owned, and share the same nasty/angry woman (Vicky?) for customer service.
Because of her, I now choose to buy nothing from either of those companies.

Sometimes it’s worth a little extra for good customer service.....
