841 liner rebuild questions

just picked up an 841 and it was smoking, so i tore it down. broken piston ring. so if i purchase a cylinder liner rebuild kit, are the pistons matched to the liner they come with? if i get the 4" liner, is that a thinner liner that will fit in place of the 3.9" liner? thanks
