The used Power Trac 1850 I am getting has a 60" Power Sweeper/Broom with power angle that fits the 1430/1845/1850. I am space limited on the trip home and I need to decide what to keep/get. I was planning on replacing the bristles and wheels on the power sweeper and selling it so I would have more room for other implements. Before I did that, I thought it best to ask the advice of people here.

A new power sweeper is $2400. I was thinking of selling this one for $1400 after I have them install the new bristles and wheels. However, should I be keeping this instead? I can see where someone commercially cleaning or removing snow from sidewalks, parking lots, or driveways would love to own one. Local people tell me they make a lot of money doing sweeper work. But given my work schedule, I do think I can do this type of commercial work which requires one to be at a particular place at an unplanned time. For my own gravel driveway, well I just had 24" of snow so I do not think I would use the sweeper for snow removal and I never rake leaves and have no concrete, asphalt, pavers, etc. to keep clean. Is there a $1400 reason I am missing as to why I should keep this sweeper?

Thanks for your advice!

It doesn't really sound like you have a use for it so I don't see why you shouldn't sell it. Look at it this way. You can either have something setting around that will be collecting dust and floor space or sell it and have $1400 to spend on a attachment you can really use. Maybe you can even find someone that would have a attachment they don't need that you would like to have and you could trade with them.

Ken,
Did you decide anything on the sweeper? I'm in the market.

Hi Reg,

I decided to sell it. Right now, it is at the factory and Terry has listed it on their site:
Used Power Tracs

I am having my tractor shipped to New York State in a few days. Depending upon where you are located, that might help with shipping. If so, let me know ASAP so I could let the shipper know/

I have a Power Sweeper for the 425. I really like it, but my purposes are different from you. I have a long paved road leading to the drive, and then a long drive. It's all paved. Trying to power wash it, or to keep it all free of pine needles and dirt is a real headache. Using the power sweeper, I can be finished in about 30-40 minutes, the whole thing. I can't imagine what I would be doing without it. Well, yes I can. I used to power wash the really grimy areas, and then use the leaf blower (for hours) to try and blow it all to the sides. It was OK, but the power sweeper gets in there, digs out all the dirt, throws it in the air, and helps me push it around. I really need to wear a dust mask, and then when I am done, I need to spend another 40 minutes cleaning off the PT, plus cleaning the air filter, etc.

It's still better than taking the entire afternoon to do the job by hand.

Sincerely,

Rob :)

P.S. I think you're doing the right thing by selling it.
