The brake lights on my 5525 stopped working. The bulbs were check and fine but no voltage to them where there should be. Fuse is good and brake switch check by local tractor garage is good. He said it has to be check by a JD dealer with their computer system as it is computer controlled. Now may be something lost in the report back to me. Anyone have any knowledge on there being anything with computer controlling the brake likes on this tractor? When I talked with JD on possible issue they did not mention anything other than bulb and switch.

I’d check the wiring. Start at the brake lights and work towards the fuse box. Might be a simple loose connection or broken/frayed wire

Okay, the brake switch is good - maybe. I would feel less than confident about the dealer's assessment. Do you have power TO the brake switch? Activate the switch. Do you have power on the output wier?

I still have it a tractor garage, not a JD one. They said they checked it and based upon what the nearest JD dealer told them it was a computer. Not sure when will be back to the garage but need to talk with the owner in more detail. Thanks for the thoughts. Some how I just find it necessary to have any computer in the brake like circuit for those lights if not mistaken single use only. Think they are tail and brake but not turn signal. Think the bulb is double element but trust memory on that point.

My tractor has turn signals. I THINK it has tail lights. I'm not sure it even HAS brake lights. In any case I have my doubts whether the brake lights would be computer controlled. If you could lay hands on a schematic that would answer the question.

jd parts shows a brake switch, and as well shows a 7-pin trailer connector, so stands to reason there may be a brake light feature..

Maybe start by locating the brake switch and check out its function. Then go to the 7-pin trailer connector to see if the wire for trailer brake lights will work.

The wiring harness's can be viewed on jdparts, but may not provide a helpful result.

Or maybe time to visit the JD dealer and ask for a print-off of the wiring diagram if you are certain that at one time you had brake lights that function.
The 3rd party involved with your tractor is a bit confusing as to what is up. ;)

Know well it "HAD" brake lights. Only way happened to realize they were not working was backed tractor under shelter after dark and realized they did not come on. Will check it myself when it gets back home. Checking the 7 pin trailer connector is a good idea.

Some tractors have a sensor to tell when the brake pedals are locked together,
you may need to lock the pedals together for the brake lights to work.
