Mowing 4720 with MMM and R4s

Last fall I bought a used 4720 with a 72" & iron mid mount mower. I tried it one time and it worked great. I removed it for the real tractor work. Since the grass has really started growing around the farm, I decided to try it again. I had been using a rear finish mower. It needed some "adjusting". The ends on the front yoke are frozen with rust in the threads. I was trying to get the deck to raise higher that it did when I took it off. Now, I see the problem. It appears the R4s will scrub the rear of the deck. Anyone happen to have a 4720 with a 72" MMM? If so, what kind of tires are you running? If I can shorten the front yoke, will it pull the rear of the deck away from the rear tires?

I did a search and did find an older thread. One of the replies said the R4s would scrub when the deck was raised in the transport position. I may just be out of luck

Likely not. The front 'yoke' (draft) is lengthened or shortened only to raise or lower the leading edge of the mower deck height. Adjust it so the deck has about 1/4" drop on the center blade (aft to fore).
The rear adjustments (lifting links) are adjusted first for the rear of the deck left to right.

Do you have the manual that shows how to level the deck?

I found the manual online last night. I think "it is, what it is." Not much I can do about the lift height without changing tires.

Since you found the manual, refer to section "installing on large frame" and make sure you have put the pins for the draft arms in the front hole "B" That could be the problem.

I can only speak to 3320 - no rear tire problem with turfs.

Deere's own literature states that the raise height is limited with the R4s. You set the max lift with the rear lift links, just enough so there is no rub. I made a couple of extension bars for the transport hanger so I can hold the deck up and still use the 3 point. If I'm doing something that needs clearance, the deck comes off...
