I recently bought a grapple bucket for my 2004 JD 4610. My hydraulic manifold has 7 ports. 4 are for the dual function loader (up, down, dump, curl), two are capped off, and on goes to the 3 point hitch. Here are a few pics

So JD has a part that uses the two capped hydraulic ports and a lever that goes on/trough the fender. Here is a link to a diagram of it part# LVB25089

WR Long makes an electric over hydraulic option. http://www.wrlonginc.com/valve_kits

I would think it would be a pain in the butt to take my hand off the loader lever to close the grapple every time. What's the best way to do this...

There are three options:
1) The 3rd SCV LVB25089 kit as you posted and run long hoses to the loader. This is a good option to get anyway since they are becoming rare-you can always use it for a rear implement.
2) The WR Long kit is nice, probably will be about $700 or so.
3) A diverter kit that will "divert" the dump/curl circuit to your new grapple, there will be a single momentary pushbutton on the joystick they when pressed will make the left/right operation of the joystick open and close the grapple. I sell a basic one for DIY installs, there are others available that come with no electric switch or instructions really.

Edit: There are LOTS of threads in the Hydraulics Forum if you search some there.

I have an LS tractor and did the electric over hydraulic option that I bought from fit rite hydraulics, a n advertiser on our forums, and it works perfect. it has a trigger switch in the new control lever and you just squeeze the switch and instead of curl it opens or closes the grapple. very smooth to work. just like the wr long kit. replumbing the unit took a bit of doing but was not that difficult, just took some time. I thing it is a much better option than running lines from the rear ports and as you mentioned taking your hands off the stick to open or close the grapple. It really doesn't need to be a full third function, it works perfectly.

If you dont have a rear remote, I'd add one (kit you are looking at.) Then run hoses to the front of the loader for the grapple.

Operating a grapple. I usually get the grapple in position, drive in, stop, close grapple, then raise and back out. Its not bad using a remote valve.

My Farmall 504 has a three spool valve for the loader. Separate lever for each function. I like.

My LS P7010C that I have ordered, I'll just run hoses to the rear remotes... It has 3 sets.

Good luck!

It might seem like a pain to have a another lever to operate clamp function but if you already have everything on tractor to operate the grapple I wouldn't spend the money. the clamp function is fairly slow to open or close not like you have to do two things at once. you will be thrilled to have grapple you will get over it
