3pt wood splitter problem

So I bought a 3pt wood splitter from a guy who often has implements and tractors for sale on my way into town. After a few trips to the farm agri-center to get the right hydro connectors. I finally got it hooked to the back of the tractor. After reading getting it set up the way way i thought it should work and having nothing happen. I fliped the hoses around and then managed to get the cylinder to move with the controls on the tractor while the control on the wood splitter was wired to all the way forward/open . So I think that means that I need a new hydro control for the wood splitter.

Do you have an open center outlet on your tractor (i.e. power beyond). It sounds like you only have control valve output. If you can only put pressure to the splitter when you operate a control on the tractor, you're not set up for hydraulic accessories. Some people find ways to hold the tractor valve open (wire, bungee, etc) so they can use the splitter control but the right way to do it is to add a power beyond connection to the tractor.

Whatever valve you are feeding the log splitter, bungee it open or tie it open to feed the log splitter valve. The log splitter valve should be the valve controlling the splitter. You know, detent auto return, etc.

Thanks I think I got it. there is a bungee cord attached to one of the hydro handles. I think the last owner of the tractor had a similar splitter.

Think I am up against the same situation. Bot the CountyLine 20T 3point splitter from Tractor Supply to put on my KIOTI DK40 HST.
The tractor has 1 set of rear ports (closed system I think as if the valve handle is either side other than center the pump is screaming to actuate something with no bypass) and I am wondering b4 I get started what is the best hardware to set it up with...... any and all advice right now is important to me. TIA

If you have nothing plugged into the remotes, and you activate the lever, it will scream as the relief is going off. It is probably open center.

If it should be a closed center tractor, then replace the log splitter valve with a closed center valve.

Thanks JJ...... If I hook the splitter on the system since it is an open system (with bypass) by opening the hyd pressure to the rear port of the tractor...... will the wood splitter valve do the bypassing when not in active cylinder movement??? Obviously not a hydraulic expert on my end...

Yes, just bungee the lever so the log splitter gets a continuous flow of fluid. The log splitter valve will then operate normally.

Just downloaded the templates and matched the male Quick-Disconnect for the exact size and style... 3/8ths .... although I thought it was going to take 1/2 in.

Tractor came with the female ports installed but I was not sure of size and style... trying to get it right....
