Here's where your many expertises can help me. I have 12 acres. Initially, I have to burn 10 piles of trees that are 30Lx20Wx15H. Florida Dept of Forestry requires a frontloader on site for this. Renting a tractor is too expensive in this area.

Next is:
Leveling 8 acres, discing 10 acres.
Then I will be doing landscaping, driveway work, and building a culvert to jump my creek and get to the back 2 acres. The back 2 acres must repeat all the processes above.

The following tractors w/FELs are being considered:
1. Mahindra 2810hst and sync / 3015hst (28/30hp)
Prefer HST because of FEL work but gear driven 2810 will suffice. Price is not an issue yet. Am I in the right ballpark for size/hp? I know a smaller tractor may work for me at a later date but would rather have a larger machine for the initial heavier workloads.

Thanks in advance!

I'd go for the heavier frame of the 10 series. The 15 series (made by Mitsubishi) is not as tough as the 10 series (made by TYM).

The only place you might like the extra HP is for PTO work but since there is only 1.5 HP difference between the two I doubt you would see any real difference.

The Gear tranny will gain you some PTO HP but you lose convenience when doing loader work.

I have a 2615 and think it is great for my 5 acres but if I had more land and heavier work to do I would appreciate a heavier machine.

If money isn't that big of an issue then look at the 3510. It looks fairly capable.

In January I went shopping for a new Mahindra. In my search, I considered the 2615, 2810 and 3015. I drove and operated all three of these models extensively before I purchased.

Given what you have described as the need for a tractor, I would recommend the 3015, which is what I ended up purchasing. The others are nice as well, but in the end, I was sold on the extra HP of the 3015. Mine is also Hydrostat, which is heads and shoulders above either the gear drive or the synchro shuttle in my opinion.

In the past two months I have operated my 3015, I have been very impressed by the overall power of both the PTO and the FEL. I have had the bucket completely full of chips to dust gravel, which is quite heavy, and the tractor has handled this with ease. I also liked the way the 15 series is constructed over the 10 series. In particular the fenders. On the 2810, the fenders have some plastic/fiberglass that didn't look like it would hold up as well as the all steel fenders on the 15 series.

Hope this helps!

It sounds like you have a good bit of work to do. I agree with PBinWA. If Money is not an issue, I'd look at the 3510. Might even look at the 4110. However, the 3510 possesses an ideal combination or weight and power that would serve your 12 acres well. I haven't checked on the price difference between the two you are looking at and the 3510, but I would bet they aren't all that far apart.

Have fun.

I think I would go with the 3510 for those chores. You have a lot of heavy loader work in front of you, and the 3510's extra weight and power will make a difference.

3510 +1
I have a 2615 and just under 7 acres. There are a couple chores I with I had bigger and you discribed them, clearing brush and moving dirt. When doing those I think I would want a 6500 but thats out of the question.

I'm going to look at the new shipment at my dealer tomorrow. He has a new 2810 gear in for a customer. All that said, I will look at the 3510 and 4110 again with your advise!

Thanks!

Don't know if it will help you decide anything, but looking on the TYM web site I found that they use Kubota and John Deere engines in their tractors, not sure if this holds true for the ones they produce for Mahindra. Interesting information I thought.

I believe the 10 series mahindra's all have Daedong (Kioti) engines.

Well,.....

I got to the dealer and there it was, a brand new 2810 Sync! Very nice but was missing...the toolbox! I looked under the left side mat(it's there on the 3510 sync) and found a flat metal deck. I was disappointed! Because of the literature, I had built myself up to that expectation. The SE Mahindra rep was on hand and I pointed this out to him. OOps! /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif I also expected the rear light to be of the same quality as the 3510; WalMart has a better light. The R4 tires were smaller than the R4s on the 2615 gear and 2615 HST models giving the impression it was a lesser/smaller machine. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif I liked the chair with the reclining back and the armrests.
I next test drove a 3510 and 4110 sync. VVVery nice machines. I next tested for a short distance the new 4530 4wd w/loader. It has a nice toolbox and comes with its own tools to boot. What a beast! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif So I left the dealer with the new prices for the 3510 and 4110 syncs.

I got home and asked myself a question and looked up the literature/specs on the 3510 HST. I was astounded to find it was on a much smaller platform(114" length). I expected it to be on the same frame as the 3510 sync. Also it weighed the same as the 2810 and uses the same loader(ML-108). Why is it so much smaller than its gear driven brother?
