On my new 5075e I cannot keep the engine RPMs steady using the foot throttle. The hand throttle is fine, but using the foot throttle, I am getting a ton of "bounce". Feels like maybe not enough friction, or needs a heavier spring or something. Anyone know if there is an adjustment or heavier spring or something for this? I use the foot throttle a lot for loader work, setting out hay, etc. so this is a bit of a pain. On my 5083e, this is not an issue, the foot throttle is fine.

The throttle is electronic on the newer tractor so you are only moving a sensor versus moving throttle linkage on the older tractor. I don't think deere is offering any parts to stiffen that up. May need to fabricate something to get the feel you want.

mtncur - you are not alone there. My 2009 Kubota M6040 has mechanical linkage on the foot throttle. I'm TOTALLY unable to maintain any sense of stability if I use the foot throttle out and about on my land. As a matter of fact - the VERY FEW times I've tried the foot throttle - I fear for damage to the drive line/train - there is so much 'bounce" - with my foot, then to the tractor.

JMHO - the foot throttle is only intended to be used when operating on smooth roads or paved surfaces.

Agreed, and I can't keep even keep it smooth on paved surfaces.

Would it help to adjust the seat height so your heel is supported or leg position is better? Maybe install a block for your heel to sit on (2 sided tape)?

Ok - well, on my driveway or the paved county road I CAN maintain an even speed with the foot throttle. The main "joint" on the mechanical linkage for the foot throttle has a tension adjustment. A nut/bolt/spring/couple washers - with the linkage levers in this mix. I never use the foot throttle so I've never fiddled with this tension adjustment.

The hand throttle works fine, for me, and with my luck - if I fiddle - it might jam. And jam wide open. There are those times when traveling around my property does involve a lot of mud slinging.

Weird, why they'd design it like that? Why wouldn't they let you adjust the resistance at the pedal pivot point like they do with 3 point levers, or the cruise control level on my garden tractor? (Maybe because it needs TO operate as a "dead's man's" throttle?)

I use foot pedal for 90% of what I'm doing, unless I'm trying to maintain 540 pto. Having to use hand throttle would be a pain. Growing up, I thought John Deere having foot throttles made them superior to those red tractors.

In fact, other than running 540 pto, the only time I have to use the hand throttle is when I'm ON THE ROAD (or brake steering).
That is, when going full speed on the road and I hit a bump, seat bounces, so leg/foot bounces, so tractor speed hiccups, which causes seat to bounce again, leg/foot bounces again, rinse and repeat... or push hand throttle to max.

No problem with hand throttle with the hydro tranny.. ;)
