Yeah, that was tried we even turned it off and back on again!Never had to do it myself, but I know there are places here in Portugal that would do it. They do it even on much more complex clusters from some of the vehicles we have here, like German vehicles and what not.
In the Branson case, sometimes even unplugging the cluster and plug back in will take care of some of these weird issues.
