2013 john deere 5075E and others
I bought a new, very base model Deere 5075E that now has 250 hrs on it and it has performed without issue. However in the last couple weeks of cold weather here in Western KY it has done a funny thing twice in 6-8 uses. The tach has stopped working. Fuel gauge, temp, hour meter, and other dash lights work. Both times it was in the teens and the engine had been plugged up for near an hour and started fine. Both times after about 10-15 minutes of run time it came "on" and worked fine. It's a needle type tachometer not digital. It has not effected the operation of the tractor or dash. I'm feeding cattle with it so a correct rpm reading is not critical. I'm not really looking for a cure just relaying an observation to other owners. Please be respectful with your replies. Thanks.

If still under warranty I would be talking to the Dealer about replacing the electronic tachometer sensor. If not under warranty replacement will be on your dime. Either one, dealer warranty or your cost, I would talk to the service manager at your selling dealer and see if he thinks it is the tachometer or the electronic tachometer sensor.

This may or may not apply. On older tractors, cold weather could make the tach act up and do some really goofy things. In old pickups I've seen cold weather mess with the speedometer. You doing 30mph and speedometer says you doing 80mph and all sorts of goofy stuff. As new as you tractor is, I don't know if this would apply. My wife's SUV is full of all sorts of electronic "whizzos" and it doesn't seem to have trouble in the cold. Must be the electronics aren't bothered by the cold like tach and speedometer cables.

It may settle when temps warm up again.
Still would talk to dealer while under warranty.

Thanks guys for your replies. Both times I noticed the issue it was cold. maybe not Kansas or Winnipeg cold but Western Kentucky cold. In the low teens and once the machine got to operating temp it came "on". I looked up the "tachometer electronic sensor" and it looked like a unplug, unbolt fix but I haven't chased it any further as far as price or location goes. Tractor is not under warranty and other than those two times has worked fine. Maybe a thing I keep an eye on. Mostly wanted to pass along my observation to other "E" series owners. Thanks again.
