2000 gmc yukon headlamp # ?

Wife called me from work, headlamp went out on the way, I need to run by WalMart or something and grab one and put it in at lunch, she works late, want to avoid any traffic citations

Anyone got a # handy?

Assuming it is the newer body style, the 9006 is the low beam and the 9005 is the high beam. 9006 can also be known as a HB4. That truck should be using a 55W if still stock.

Punch the make/model/year into the little part number "computer" on the shelf at Walmart and it will tell you.

last time i went there 2000 was no longer on the list when i was looking up oil filters. don't know if htat is all stores or just podunk ones?

99 stopped being listed too. my other truck is a 99.

I usually order my parts from Rockauto.com, and I've had good experiences with them. Pricing is usually much better than Autozone/Advance etc.

Your 2000 Yukon would be using pretty much the same oil filters, bulbs and lots of other parts through at least 2006. 2007 they redesigned the headlamp housings to use different bulbs.

Have the wife look it up in the owners book. You may need that to figure out how to get to the bulb to replace it. I know I did on my 03.

that will be a loosing battle asking the wife to go out and look it up!

as for the 'how' part. no problem.. BTDT. gmc makes you pull long rods or pins and then slip the headlamp assy out the front still connected by the flimsy headlamp wires and brittle plug in connectors. then you just twist and pull and then carefully remove the brittle plug from the old headlamp or you wil damage the plug. then you fish the gasket off the ground and reinstall. IMHO.. typical GM high precision engineering.

I hope it's just the bulb. My daughter was complaining the headlights would just quit on her 2004 Impala. Flick the Hi-Lo switch and they would come back. finally even that would not fix them. Good thing there are fog lights on that car. I had to replace the multifunction stalk on the steering column. Not cheap either.

I went over to her school last night at 7:30 while she was finishing up gettingthe room ready for tomorrow and swapped the lamp out. only takes about 5 minutes, even fighting with those 2 posts that hold the assy in. conenctor wasn't brittle this time as that was one i had repalced. so was in and out fast. good thing too. it was getting dark. I followed her home and we passed a county mounty setting onthe side of the road that would likely have pulled her for a headlamp out. so good timing that it was noticed!
