It could be. I have always wondered why the 186D got a different 4wd axle when the rest of the tractor was almost identical to the 1510D. The 186D axle does look like it is heavier duty design. The 1510D appears to put all of the stress on a single 7/8"ish pin through the center where the 186D has a bigger bearing supporting the casting itself.
The rear tires are different sizes (8-18 vs 9.5-16) but roughly the same diameters so the ratio is probably the same.
