I have a New Holland TC-30 with a 110TL Front End Loader. I was thinking about putting a toothbar on it but am a little worried about the strength of the 60 inch bucket. has anyone mounted a tooth bar on this front end loader? I am doing some land clearing and am kind of worried about the teeth grabbing a root and bending the very thin bucket walls where the tooth bar would attach. Also would appreciate an recommendations of where to purchase the whole bar or the teeth to make my own.

Thanks,

pete

The toothbar really does not "attach" to the sidewalls of the bucket, it fits over the cutting edge and actually strengthens it considerably. The bolts in the sidewall are only to keep it from falling off and have no real stress of them if installed properly.

Thank you, I did not realize that the cutting edge is where the torque went. That makes me feel alot better about looking into building or buying one.

Pete,

A lot of folks here on TBN usually recommend the Markham toothbar Markham Welding - Tooth Bar. They custom make each of their toothbars to the measurment you give them. It will be my next purchase for my small tractor.

I bought a toothbar from my NH dealer. I mentioned it one day when I was ordering some remote hydraulic valves. He told me he had two new ones in his warehouse. After looking at it, I bought it on the spot. That was several years ago before the price of steel went up, but his price was very competitive. As I remember, less than $300.

As KennyD stated, the toothbar strengthens your cutting edge and the side mounts only hold the toothbar on when back-dragging. There is virtually no stress at all on the side of the bucket. Drilling the holes is the biggest job.

I appreciate all the input from everybody. I did e-mail back and forth to Markham Welding and was impressed by their customer service so I just bought my toothbar today. I am like a kid at Christmas excited to get it delivered and put it to good use clearing my land. I really like this company and would recommend them to all.

It was just under $280.

I have similar equipment and am clearing land - mostly brush and occasional small-medium sized trees. Would a toothbar help with this? Seems to me that a toothbar might help with rocky ground but mine is all sand and clay but a toothbar might help with ripping out roots.

What is the purpose of a toothbar? I hope this isn't a stupid question - if it is I have got plenty of others.
