\'05 Yamaha Rhino

I just got off of the phone with customer support with Yamaha USA customer support and received some very disappointing news. The lady there told me that all of their '05 Rhino's were already allocated to their dealers and if I didn't already have a signed purchase order with a deposit on an '05 Rhino that I would have to wait until Oct or Nov of '05 for an '06 model!!! /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif

Needless to say, if that is the case, I need to start looking again at a "fun" side by side unit comparable to the Rhino. Waiting until "sometime in October or November" was plenty bad enough, but "October or November or '05" is out of the question. Talk about being out of the mood by then!!

Anyone heard anything different? This was straight from Yamaha headquarters. Competitors should love this news. I'm sure that there will be plenty of people like me who had planned on buying a Rhino but now will be out for something else!

Re: \'05 Yamaha Rhino

I can understand your frustration at hearing that kind of information.

I would give serious consideration to the new '05 Ranger 4x4 with IRS which is available at dealers now. This is with the regular 500 cc engine, but I've not heard of lack-of-power complaints. A new 700cc version is due at dealers in a few months, but is likely to be in short supply at first and mostly pre-sold to those who have put deposits down on them already.

We have a Ranger 6x6 with the same engine and even at 8000 ft altitude, feel it has plenty of power. The Rangers have also had much less mechanical and roll-over problems than the Rhinos from all I have heard.

Good luck in finding a new side-by-side ride!!

Re: \'05 Yamaha Rhino

Thanks Rip for the info. Yamaha must have one hot product to have every '05 sold and taking orders on '06's. Dang! I'm sort of partial to Yamaha myself for personal reasons. Back in the mid 70's when I was looking for a sponsor for my motocross racing then, Yamaha stepped up for a young wild kid and I don't forget things like that. Also, it is apparent that Yamaha does stand right up there with the best made ATV / UV's out there from everything I've read.
I had a mechanic that travelled with me when I raced and often commented that we haul the bikes around like they are as fragile as eggs, but ride them like we hate them. Or as he often said "ride it like it's not yours!"
I have a deal working on an '04 that is basically new. I'll know for sure tomorrow. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Re: \'05 Yamaha Rhino

I would check with an actual dealer before I relieid solely on what the headquarters tell you. If you still can't find one the Polaris ranger is one heck of a machine. We have one at the hunting club and it is also used on the farm down there and it has impressed me. I'm not a Polaris fan at all but I like the Ranger and wouldn't mind having one but my Honda Rancher 4x4 is more practical for me. I'm also glad someone on this board asks about something besides an RTV.

Dargo - you got it bad buddy /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Sounds to me like Yamaha may be trying to keep their prices up.

It is hard to imagine every planned production unit for 05 already sold. Did Harley Davidson purchase Yamaha when I wasn't looking? /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I have all the confidence in the world you will end up with exactly what you want! But may have to pay a little bit more.

Re: \'05 Yamaha Rhino

I find this very hard to believe...I think the dealers may have them but I doubt that they are all spoken for...The dealer I bought my 04 at had 2 more 04;s in stock when I bought mine...2 weeks agao...I bet they still have one...I would also check with a few dealers in the area around you and ask them if they have any on order and if they are all spoken for...I checked on the ranger 700efi and they were all spoken for but I could have ordered one if I wanted to. What do u plan on doing with the rhino or UTV? Thins may narrow down your option a bit.

Good Luck /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif
