I don't, but someone here does. Bobby Harper shows up sometimes, he used to work there and is a wonderful source of information. He is seen sometimes in the FB groups. Post a photo of your machine, no roll bar, one roll bar to 2?
Is there room to get a big pipe wrench on it with a long cheater pipe on the handle for leverage? Heat on stuck nuts is alway a good thing, just be ready to extinguish the fire if the old grease catches.
So, my machine last week after a couple of hard work began activating the glow plugs. The result is a rattling noise, I suspect pre-ignition. As a stop gap I plan to put a toggle switch in the power wire to the glow plugs. Only have a manual for T-9. It gives P/N 70038 which is I'm guessing a...
I think the whine is normal on these machines, I wear ear plugs because it's annoying. I had a T5B for many years and never felt the curl was lacking. See the photos. My T6 also has only one curl cylinder and I'm quite happy with it as well. Could be your cylinder needs a ring kit.
Thanks all, but I just couldn't do it asymmetrically. The cutting and welding was a pleasure compared to grinding all the shanks to fit my slightly thicker bucket lip than what they were meant for.
Yeah Old and tired, I didn't even attempt to dicker. There was rust but no wear, used just enough...
I've been looking for a tooth bar since getting the T6 a few months back. Everything I found was a long drive and somewhat expensive. Picked this up today 5 miles from my home for $80!!! Looks like I'll be cutting 3 inches from both ends and welding it back together. Unless someone here has a...
Yeah, lots of grease. Except the ball joint on the ps cylinder has no zerk and I can't find my grease needle. Will have to get one and slip some grease up under the boot.
Oh, Thanks to Dart1917 for the Rock Auto number ES323R for the rod ends.
All done! Aggravating job. Both rod ends were seized into the rod. Had to weld on nuts, heat to red a few times and work back and forth with an impact to get out the broken piece as well as the whole one. Then chase the corroded threads with a tap. Main axel pivot was loose and the cylinder ball...
"looks like the welded end should be longer too." Yeah, even more obvious seeing it than in the photo.
"the previous owner simply welded the new one along side the tie rod ?" you can see the threaded part still in the rod.
"can the other side still be adjusted?" Yeah, the left...
That was my understanding about toe as well, But the tire on the side with the welded end is worn bad and the other tire is decent. Also the other side doesn't rub the frame. Been that way since I got it recently. When I get it up and into it there may be some other bent part.
I will attempt to remove the broken part, it shows no signs the previous guy with a welder even tried to get it out!
Any tips on how to properly line up the wheels? The tire on the poorly repaired side is wearing a lot faster than the left side. And you can see in the photo where it's rubbing...
Even after freeing the linkage and nothing in a bind, I still wasn't happy with the feel of the FEL control. Raise and lower were fine but the spring for dump and roll back was way too stiff. Made this mod today and worked it for a few hours. Completely satisfied! The additional 7 or 8 inches of...
They are $3.89 now. Two are on the way so they will be here when I have a chance to deal with it. Saving me that much money qualifies one for my new best friend. Thanks! Hopefully Terramite used the same joints on the 2wd as your 4wd.
Yeah Dart, I bet your machine wasn't that nice when it left West Virginia. I could never stand having my machine down for an extended period of time, but it looks like it has a big brother to use when it was in the recovery process.
I'll store away that bit of valuable info on the timer...
Thanks Dart,
That is great information. I will eventually get it even if I have to remove and overhaul the whole valve. The digging season will be over for my little bamboo farm in a few weeks. Then I can have the machine down for a while if needed. Yeah I had already checked McMaster-Carr to be...
Thanks agjones,
Did you ever see if your machine will roll and curl in float and more importantly will it roll back at the same time as lifting the arms? I took off all the lines this afternoon and did a study: It is looking and feeling like the frozen shaft may not be the problem. With good...
Thanks Dart for your help. I figured the whole valve body would need to be out to remove the spool. The piece I'm thinking about cutting is just the 5/16 rod, in order to rotate the spool enough for drill access. Thinking of leaving enough stub to center a drill guide made on my lathe. I'm...
Thanks Dart. I did do a little tapping while my press was in place. Afraid to really drive on it, might break the top off the spool. Right now it's back together because the machine is usable and I have a paying job in a day or two. Right now I'm thinking about cutting the bent link in order to...
Ok guys, I made a tool to press the linkage out of the spool valve. No joy! Any of the great minds here have an idea? I have about all the pressure I can squeeze on the vice grips. Bending the fork on the left side of the photo.
Thanks Waterskier, Now I know where to look for the rubber mounts. I can't move the engine much so I suspect mine are OK for now but the radiator has some movement. In fact the engine to radiator bracket was broken, I have repaired it. Every time I get to use this machine I like it more. Very...
Back working but it is taking too much pressure to make it curl back while in float. Seems to be working as it should from neutral position. Covered in penetrating oil, then more spray grease. Will give it a chance to free up on its own before going back in for more invasive surgery. Hope I...
I got into it this afternoon. Best access is to remove the plate that has the warning lights and switch. At least then it can be seen. It's a two valve set up, one sits directly in front of the handle lift/lower and the roll/curl is beside the handle operated by the side to side movement of the...
Used an inspection camera and found no foreign objects blocking movement. So I guess I'll tear into it later. Any Voice of experience would be appreciated.
Will your front bucket preform two movements at the same time? I was just moving the gravel back up from the heavy rain we had last night, with new to me T6. Found out when in float the bucket will move to dump but not roll back. More experimenting shows it doesn't seem to want to curl going up...
There must have been different versions or options. I've been understanding 2 FEL cylinders were what set the T9 apart. My opinion of the price is someone probably got a killer deal depending on the unknown issues/not diagnosed. I would have taken the gamble if it were close and I hadn't already...
Thanks Ralph, Yeah there seem to be bits of info spread around but since agjones has convinced me it's basically a T9 that helps. And I am enjoying the extra power. A more detailed wiring diagram would be nice. The one in the parts manual leaves a lot to be desired have you seen the problems...
Yeah it is pretty ugly. I found no cracks on the one here. Saw no hosed marked Terramite but some look pretty weathered. Exploring this machine it seems most issues are from sitting out rather than from being worked above its ability the way my old T5 was.
Got to do some honest work with mine...
Thanks,
Is your go pedal mounted crocked like this one? It looks as if it's meant to be this way but seems clumsy after using, the old T5 was straight.
Added a bass boat seat today, comfy. Bottom cushion was missing on the original and was quoted $120 for a replacement cushion.
Yeah, what you did with the loader mod is great. By the time the piggy bank recovers from the trade, I'll know if I need that. Got to dig a little today, it's a beast compared to the T5. I really like the look and feel of those big fat tires. Checked on fluid for them today. Local shop will do...
Thanks agonies, I'll be looking back through your contributions. And yeah, this one seems like a beast compared to the t5. Just delivered last night, so no chance to do actual work yet.
Hello All,
I traded my T5C or maybe B on a T6-D today. I think about 12 years newer upgrade. I would really appreciate any information anyone would be willing to share. So very little on this machine online! I have no idea what it might weigh, lift capacity on either end and other things. Thanks
Ok, Looks like the spindle I made from scratch lasted through 5 years of abuse on my rocky ground. It broke yesterday. I took my own advise and went with the trailer spindle from Northern Tool this time. Pretty happy with the out come. 4 wheels on the ground and sitting nice again. you can see...
Not so much about slipping for me as stability. Not a level spot on my place. Penetration when using the hoe. I think I saw somewhere the drive system is rated for 35hp so it is overbuilt for the 20 hp motor. And counterweight for the loader bucket.
Well, when they came they looked more conventional. Not the wide spaced longer bars that are pictures. Name on them was "Cropmaster" not "Crop-Max". [/ATTACH]At any rate they are full of fluid and back on my machine and I'm happy.
If you need tires this might be a good time since they have 10%...
Just busted a rear, probably on a sharp rock. Local farm tire dealer says boot and tube probably won't last long. His price on new tires is around $190 not counting the fluid, I wouldn't be without. My question is: Anyone have experience with these tires
$99.83 - Crop Max R1 - tires | Buy...
The starter on my T5B, Kohler 20 Magnum turns fine but will not engage the flywheel on cooler days (like below 50F). I can only get it going by placing a heater under/ beside the engine for about an hour. Thoughts?
I've already replaced the battery thinking it was weak.
I'm guessing cold...
Actually, I had been digging with the hoe and it fell off when I turned around and took the front end weight off the loader bucket. Admittedly I have overloaded the machine, if you look back I think there might be some photos of huge rocks in the front bucket. Looking at the broken ends it...
Talked to another guy in my area who has broken one, so it must not be all that uncommon. If I break another one I have a torsion bar from a tank that might be about the right size.:)
The part the bearings go on is 1 inch and the rest of the shaft is 1.25".
One of the nicest things I've added lately is a Push-Button Locking Vernier Universal Control Cable (big black knob with a red button). The machine came to me with one of those small locking metal T handled cables. It was uncomfortable and hard to set to the perfect rpm for what was being done...
While fixing a flat on the front of my T5B I noticed a rough wheel bearing. My local NAPA store was able to match the bearing and seal. The Napa number of the bearing is BR14 and the seal is 12437.
If you have any part numbers please post them here and we could eventually build a resource list...
This story will only be relevant if you have an older machine with manual steering. I have known for a while my steering box has been going bad due to rise and fall of the steering wheel and increasing slop when turning. Wasn't a problem in the field but a real issue going up the road. Took...
Anyone have experience with the plastic drive coupling (UC-DC-42S, made by company UCC) that ties the engine to the pump? I stripped mine Friday too late to call Terramite. Internet search looks like it's an off the shelf part in England but I found no avaliability in the USA. Also wondering if...
Have anyone figured out a good place to mount a tool box on their Terramite? I'm finding it would be nice to have a few things onboard. Top of the fenders seems like a good place but that would be in the way moving positions on the T5B as I need to stand on them momentarialy before placing feet...
I've had this old T5b for only a few weeks and have had limited time to practice but I'm thoroughly impressed with this machine. If you are thinking about getting a Terramite my advise would be to hurry and do it. I wish I had owned one 25 years ago. I really like owning a piece of equipment...
