    Homebuilt grader

This handle is mounted inside your tractor on one of your original hydraulic control handles. You move it fwd-bck just as any handle. When you push a button function changes. Simple as that
  2. BFreaky

    Homebuilt grader

Well in this case the wheels should have an axial movement to reduce variation. And that should be much better in 2nd pass. This is a manual lever with diverter valves, 4 functions. Once you get used to it it works really fast because you never let go of the handle, just press button to change...
  3. BFreaky

    Homebuilt grader

Well then you have plenty of experience and this project will be a walk in the park

    Homebuilt grader

I'm an automation engineer (hydraulics, pneumatics, electronics, machine development...). Got my own one man company and I develop and make custom machines on order. @Fixastuff, no I did not start a thread on this one
  5. BFreaky

    Homebuilt grader

I've built this one for a tractor, you can put something like this on a skidsteer, just reverse the blade and wheels. It has all the functions that big road graders have, check the video on youtube. Video link:

    Tractor backhoe - homemade

Moving on with it. Cylinders are centered and tack welded on lower end. Jaw opens 90 cm at the blades and 82 cm at those side teeth. It should be enough to grab anything
  7. BFreaky

    Tractor backhoe - homemade

Just a few, not much, I make it up along the way...
  8. BFreaky

    Tractor backhoe - homemade

Teeth came in so I made some progress...
  9. BFreaky

    Tractor backhoe - homemade

I believe it could. Well I had hydraulic thumb on my previous backhoe and it's a great thing...with many downsides. It has to have a pressure relief valve otherwise you can bend that cylinder in no time. Bucket cylinder is stronger and it has a leverage so it requires non stop attention while...
  10. BFreaky

    Tractor backhoe - homemade

Thanks. The plan is to make it grab concrete, wood and debris equally well. I hope it will
  11. BFreaky

    Tractor backhoe - homemade

Starting to make the bucket. Still waiting for teeth to arrive...
  12. BFreaky

    Tractor backhoe - homemade

I had a thumb on rk 525, but I think this will be a better solution. It will be built out of Hardox to reduce weight and increase strenght
  13. BFreaky

    Tractor backhoe - homemade

It looks great, a really big machine. Soon I'll finish my design, then we can compare the weight of both buckets
  14. BFreaky

    Tractor backhoe - homemade

Yes. In my experience there is always a need to grab something while digging or demolition or pretty much any job. Also with a regular bucket it's next to impossible to pick up all material on the surface without using the shovel. With a jaw it will work. One more point is the fact that in some...

    Tractor backhoe - homemade

Even if there are I'm going for the 4 in 1 bucket 😁
  16. BFreaky

    Tractor backhoe - homemade

I've welded my front pin on the bucket, and rear one gets inserted all the way through the bucket and coupler. This way even if my front hook snaps rear pin will hold the bucket
  17. BFreaky

    Tractor backhoe - homemade

Yes but pin grabbers are the fastest tool changing couplers. You only need additional hydraulic line to lock it
  18. BFreaky

    Tractor backhoe - homemade

Well, there are many types, probably 20-30 different ones. Thanks Vigo. 😊
  19. BFreaky

    Tractor backhoe - homemade

So...it fits 😁 Did some short testing, it works 😊 so now I have to build a bucket for it
  20. BFreaky

    Tractor backhoe - homemade

Thanks for advice Renze, I was aware of that. Previous bad experiences 😁. Vigo, it could not be done without it, that pump couples direct on to pto shaft
  21. BFreaky

    Tractor backhoe - homemade

Could not manage to lift the machine enough with a small forklift for coupling so I decided to fix the pump in place and use a shaft to turn it from a distance. Stabilizers did the work easily 😁
  22. BFreaky

    Tractor backhoe - homemade

Made a frame for hydraulic pumps, and connected everything. Also I've cut the back plate of the cab to pull joysticks through. Hopefully I will mount the machine on to the tractor by saturday.. Oni upload pic
  23. BFreaky

    Tractor backhoe - homemade

I'm not sure why that happened, those are all my pictures, there is no copyright... Anyway, I continued working so I made my seat turnable. Belarus has its batteries behind the drivers seat so I had to move them down under the cab. Here are the results. Now I can continue working on joystick...
  24. BFreaky

    Tractor backhoe - homemade

No problem. Those valves are not expensive, you can retrofit any cylinder. They cost 34 $ a piece. Simply adjust the lenght of those metal hoses and it works.
  25. BFreaky

    Tractor backhoe - homemade

So I connected everything at the kingpost junction...
  26. BFreaky

    Tractor backhoe - homemade

Ok so here are those pictures again.
  27. BFreaky

    Tractor backhoe - homemade

Really? It shows all the pictures when I open the page. 🤔
  28. BFreaky

    Tractor backhoe - homemade

Yes, so here are the details.
  29. BFreaky

    Tractor backhoe - homemade

First boom, upper and lower hoses connected. Also, lift cylinder done. There I installed hydraulic block valve for safety. Even in case my hoses break, this keeps the cylinder in place and prevents any boom movement
  30. BFreaky

    Tractor backhoe - homemade

Finished connecting left hydraulic distributor valve, moving on to the right. By the way I'm checking every function with compressed air so I get those hoses in the best configuration and not messed up
  31. BFreaky

    Tractor backhoe - homemade

So I started at the bucket cylinder, added auxilary command (for rotator, jaw bucket, misc), it will be controled through emv witha a push of a button... After that came the tricky part, kingpost "hosing" where all those lines + rotation, kingpost brakes and electric lines come...

    Playin' around with metal pipes...
  33. BFreaky

    Tractor backhoe - homemade

Homemade 10 minutes hydraulic pipe bender; does not look pretty but it works great. So I made all those metal pipes... ...and started mounting flexible ones...
  34. BFreaky

    Tractor backhoe - homemade

    Me too 😁
  35. BFreaky

    Tractor backhoe - homemade

Soo...hoses are here, finally it will come alive next week 😎
  36. BFreaky

    Tractor backhoe - homemade

The solution is geometrical. You have to get as close as possible with your positions in order to get smooth movement. Block valves can only make it jumpy because these cylinders (as LouNY said) are connected in a cross pattern. Simply draw circles on your points of rotation and they will show...
  37. BFreaky

    Tractor backhoe - homemade

It's time to blow the dust off the thing and finish it 😁 So I mounted oil tank, and started to make hydraulic hoses...

    Tractor backhoe - homemade

Well, since very many people got very interested in my work (that happened after I showed my Rk 525 backhoe), 4 years ago I started a little one-man (and wife) company so I'm building custom made machines for my customers. There is no way I could build these new ones just to keep them for...

    Tractor backhoe - homemade

Beams are actually tubes 200x100x8 mm. No, wheels are spaced this way so they always remain on firm and even ground directly behind the center of the blade. This way we get the best support and avoid jumping and running on to larger stones, debris etc. When you offset the main beam and angle the...
  40. BFreaky

    Tractor backhoe - homemade

Well this video shows all the functions; it's got 45° rotation, 15° tilt, 20° offset...both sides
  41. BFreaky

    Tractor backhoe - homemade

Link to my rear blade, first test, still had some air in hydraulic system
  42. BFreaky

    Tractor backhoe - homemade

Thanks, I've put alot of time into it
  43. BFreaky

    Tractor backhoe - homemade

Ofcourse, I constructed and build both, and many more different machines. Pull behind grader blade is a 3 m width, 4 m total lenght and it can withstand a 200 HP tractor. It has 45° angle, 15° tilt, 20° main boom offset (1 m out to the side of the road) and it's controlled with 1 lever and 3...

    Tractor backhoe - homemade

Finally made some progress... I've turned and assembled those kingpost brakes... You probably wonder what took me so long...well I've been busy making other stuff...little hint:
  45. BFreaky

    Tractor backhoe - homemade

That's exactly why I have chosen variable boom instead of telescope. Besides, you switch between functions with a press of a button, it's not like you have to search the right lever to pull
  46. BFreaky

    Tractor backhoe - homemade

So, did you add the 3rd arm? :)
  47. BFreaky

    Tractor backhoe - homemade

There were many other projects so I had to put this one on hold...
  48. BFreaky

    Tractor backhoe - homemade

Here we go again...after a long pause
  49. BFreaky

    Tractor backhoe - homemade

Yes, well, the prices jump all the time...it's not normal. What's the price per kg in America?
  50. BFreaky

    Tractor backhoe - homemade

Managed to install some cylinders. Hope to speed it up, it's close to finish
  51. BFreaky

    Tractor backhoe - homemade

Yes, there are three sections. I will post pictures next week. Now I got the first cylinder in place, had no time last week
  52. BFreaky

    Tractor backhoe - homemade

Well the secret is in the broom and shovel😁...it's a habbit, I clean my workshop once a week, just feels better not to step on some parts, cuttoff's and stuff. Thanks, I hope it works as expected, it is a prototype but I'm confident it will do it's job well
  53. BFreaky

    Tractor backhoe - homemade

    Here we go...assembly
  54. BFreaky

    Tractor backhoe - homemade

Yes, we have the same problem. If this goes on like this people will simply stop buying...
  55. BFreaky

    Tractor backhoe - homemade

Well this is a strong loader, it can lift 1.5 tones and nothing broke yet...I'm using it every day
  56. BFreaky

    Tractor backhoe - homemade

Yes. There are two nuts that need to be released, after that you just turn it and measure the new distance and fix it back again
  57. BFreaky

    Tractor backhoe - homemade

Changed overall width on the front axle. They made it really simple, took about 15 minuter per side...russian tech
  58. BFreaky

    Tractor backhoe - homemade

Since I changed overall width, now i had to add 130 mm to get the fenders in place
  59. BFreaky

    Tractor backhoe - homemade

Mounting of the filters and oil tank. Lower side is divided into 2 sections because I'm using tandem gear pump so every pump has it's own suction filter
  60. BFreaky

    Tractor backhoe - homemade

So I finished the kingpost and got a smooth full 180 degree movement, other than that I switched rear wheels and changet the outter width to get more stabillity
  61. BFreaky

    Tractor backhoe - homemade

Well I hope to finish it soon. When I made that oil tank everything was put on hold, I got alot of projects so it was necessary to do those first...they pay the bills, RK only makes new ones :)
  62. BFreaky

    Tractor backhoe - homemade

Sooo...after alot of other projects I decided to finally finish this one. Welding of the swing cylinders and preparing upper holding plate... This has to be welded dissasembled not to burn those seals in the cylinders...
  63. BFreaky

    Tractor backhoe - homemade

Testing the oil tank for leakage; passed ;) So I welded top cover and painted it After that I made kingpost braking cylinders, 4 of them, one in each corner. Turning them on the lathe after welding. It was almost unnecessary
  64. BFreaky

    Tractor backhoe - homemade

Ofcourse. There is a ton of planning and drawing behid the geometric solution. I've figured quite fast that at half point of the swing cylinders get in a impossible position where they should both go out to achieve this arc unless you manage to get that lever ratio under 5 mm.
  65. BFreaky

    Tractor backhoe - homemade

Anyway, I turned and centered and welded main swing mechanism....now for the hardest and believe me the most complicated part of the machine...swing cylinders. Anyone who is familliar with this issue knows that this combined movement of those two swing cylinders does not forgive any mistakes...
  66. BFreaky

    Tractor backhoe - homemade

Nah, we'll just buy a bigger Synergy welder, wives can't win, equipment is essential ;)
  67. BFreaky

    Tractor backhoe - homemade

So you think it's not worth extra money. I'm satisfied with my Synergy right now but figured the pulse is an improvement...
  68. BFreaky

    Tractor backhoe - homemade

Really, why? From what I saw they make a great weld. Which process is the best?
  69. BFreaky

    Tractor backhoe - homemade

It's like hand writing, the more you do it the better it looks. It's also important to buy a good welder. Now I own a Synergy Mig welder with 380 Amps max current and water cooled torch, but next "wish" is a dual pulse welder. That's a long term plan...
  70. BFreaky

    Tractor backhoe - homemade

Moving on...kingpost assembly. Drilled and turned the king pins, after that I heated them and quenched. All the pins are made of 42CrMo4
  71. BFreaky

    Tractor backhoe - homemade

Today I mounted both stabilizers, cylinders and pads and sprayed last coat of color. Besides that, oil tank is nearly finished..
  72. BFreaky

    Tractor backhoe - homemade

Today I bent metal sheets to make a hydraulic oil tank, so here are the results... Position on the machine. Suction filters will be inside this box, divided in separate sections Upper side Return filters
  73. BFreaky

    Tractor backhoe - homemade

Because this way I get side shift. Whole boom assembly and kingpost moves left-right so you can dig next to a wall, fence, any small space. Other advantage is that you can fold the boom as close as possible to the tractor so you get more manuverability, stability, tractor can travel faster and...
  74. BFreaky

    Tractor backhoe - homemade

I had no time to work on this project so it was on hold. Now I ordered the parts for oil tank and some other details so I can move on...
  75. BFreaky

    Tractor backhoe - homemade

Moving on with the kingpost.. Mounted the sideshift frame to determine the best position to mount the oil tank.

    Tractor dirt/snow blade - homemade

Hello again. Soo...here's my new project. It will be my new universal tractor blade. General idea is to have a snow blade which can also be used for hard work (to level dirt/gravel etc). I've build something similar before but was not satisfied with it so...here's a brand new design and some...

    Tractor backhoe - homemade

Hi. Here I am again with some innovations. This idea has been bugging me for some time now...so I finally decided to do it... I'm building my own tractor backhoe attachment for my Belarus 820 tractor. As always it al started with some drawnings... I made approx 30 of them, but here are a few...
