    John Deere oil

OEM brand oils are minimum requirement aka good enough lubricants. There's obviously better made lubricants on today's market that meet and exceed OEM and do a much better job. Regardless of what brand oil is stated or advertised by the OEM, these oils are nothing more than contracts that go...

    X738 with Can Wiper Problems

I suspect bad installation as well. Several things have come loose or fallen off the first winter. The service dept is too complacent and like to blame problems on the customer not coming back for them to do routine service. I bought my 1st tractor from them 20+ yrs ago and never got...

    X738 with Can Wiper Problems

I did save the old one for now but I did not index the wiper arm and mark it before i removed it so I can't do the drill a hole now. They cautioned me when installing the new one to cycle the motor on/off before attaching the arm so it cleans the appropriate arc.

    X738 with Can Wiper Problems

Looks the same. Nothing else fits (exclusive JD part) and I needed the wiper to work. Snowing and blowing and can't see without it. I recall the first winter I had the machine the arm fell off. The motor almost came loose indicating to me sloppy installation. I suspect the set screws were...

    X738 with Can Wiper Problems

My X738 is used just for snow removal and since new circa 5 yrs ago I have had issues with the wiper on the steel cab coming loose, even falling off in the snow and need metal detector to find it (happened once). The set screws won't hold it. They slip and the wiper goes out of pattern. Thread...

    Seafoam testing

K&N filters are not worth a premium price. Their claim to fame is the 'nut' to remove them. Hardly worth a premium price. Champion Labs says they make over 30 private label brands such as Super Tech, Mobil 1, K&N, Bosch, STP, + their own Luberfiner and Champ. Keep in mind that not all models...

Buying land that has a natural gas line on it?

What you also have to consider is the terrain near the line in that any construction could impact, i.e cause weakening of the soil and cause the stress to the pipe line. I was a surveyor and we did some survey work (aerial mapping) for a road that paralleled a 100 ft pipe line easement and the...

    JD 47-inch blower problems

Got a 2010 JD X728 with 47-in JD snow blower. After dealer rebuilt blower last year (chain and gears worn out <100 hrs) is has not been pushing out the snow like it once did or my neighbors similar machine. I always end up with a snow bank in front of the blower as if it cannot handle even 4...

    2010 X728SE Brake release problems

I cannot get the park brake to release easily on my 728. I contacted the dealer (useless) and all he did was say, "its a common problem", try fiddling with the release lever. The only way I can get it to release is to push on the brake pedal hard, push down on the release button and then let...

    Just bought a JD X728 tractor 4x4

Was torn between the X729 (4-wheel steer) but most of my use is in straight line so not important. I got it for snow removal with the 47" 2-stage blower, very little grass to mow. I can't take using the Ariens 13hp 36in walk behind anymore. Although a great snow blower its hard on the body to...

    Leaf Hog

Does anyone manf. a portable gas powered leaf Hog & mulcher? Something on the line of string trimmer that sucks up leafs and mulches them into a attached bag. B&D makes a electric one (need a cord) but that won't do for my use.
