1960-64 was called the "surge" when I was in my 20s. Picture a cartoon where a fire hose is opened, and the bubble moves down the line...1961 was and still-is on the back side of that bubble. "Doors Slamming Shut" means the opportunities were quickly decreasing. It's hard to believe "doors...

    Most useful implements?

Yes, kinga heavy but I get-by with them by hand stacking or laying slash perpendicular Next logging op, I hope to use the procedes for a grapple; better than paying taxes on a k schedule....🤓

    Most useful implements?

Probably gonna cause a frown or two with this tangent; but here it is; maybe the OP might want to think outside the box or come into another woodlot someday. I couldn't do without the FEL or the FX65 logging winch on my tractor....the skid-steer FEL has 4 pallet forks mounted (no grapple yet)...

    Savana Oak

Average humidity here is 26%, cutting planks with the "Alaskan" (sitting in my shop for 8 years) will be my first. I'll probably cut 3" or 4" slabs, paint the edges & let them dry in the shed.

    Let's see your knife.

Cool topic; I too have an affection for knives, and have passed most of them down to my family. Pictured is my personal oldest and newest... Cold War Jump Masters were req. to carry a knife on one of the lower legs during jumping opns; this A/F survival was issued to me when I graduated from...

    RTV X900 Plow

I run a widened warn blade on my RTV 500; added 12" to each end, added a strip of conveyor belt on the bottom, and I permanently mounted the attachment plate to the RTV... The only bit of advice I can add among these fine examples is this: if your gonna use a winch to raise & lower the blade...

    Looking for log splitter recommendation

Stay out of the "grey market"; the name might be there, but they are cheap imposters. Buy American made. Edit: wedge; the two stage wedges seem to work better than the single. A nice big table to hold the excess, and a vertical-horizontal.

    Bomb Cyclone!!!

Low 20s and strong winds underneath warmer rain until 5AM. @ 2" of ice & sleet accumilated. A motorist & two occupants took out a power pole last night; their car rolled down hill and ran off. Ran the new 8K gen-set and circuit lockout for @ 4 hours to keep our pipes warm....it ran perfectly...

    Mahindra 5155 Anyone?

The 3016 barely lifted these 22" x 8' sections of Savana Oak today; I chose "forking" them over skidding... I have 400# of rim guard in the rear wheels. Mia culpa; the hydro fluid & filters are due for a change....😳

    Mahindra 5155 Anyone?

15 cords of maple ea year ( I buk maple logs at 12'6"), or it takes @ 30 doug-fir logs to fill a log truck (once or twice per year). The 55 hundred new trees will be the kid's chore in 20 years... haha

    Savana Oak

Taking advantage of a rare 4 day dry-spell in December, this Savana Oak was 90% hollow at the base; 4 feet up, and leaning heavily. Three 8s and two 12s, plus limbs. It will cure nicely for winter 2224-2225-26. An added bonus of watching the blacktails later today; going berzerk over the buds...

    Mahindra 5155 Anyone?

I really like my 3016 but in a 10 year hind-sight, a 5 series tractor seems to be the minimum-size tractor for the light forestry work I do; a typical 37 foot Doug-Fir happens to be where the better money at the mill begins, but logs that size, over work the 3016s. OP has a nice looking...

    modifying the M comfort seat?

I have the 3016; not sure if my comment will help but I put sections of schedule 40 PVC inside the seat springs. Maybe 1" dia X 3" long; whatever fits inside of the springs. The rocking side to side was really tough on my L4 & L5.

    3016 bypass valve for grapple

I'm gonna put a 60" grapple on my 2012 Mahindra 3016 this next year; function valve 1st. Did some reading, watched a few videos. How to level front end loader arms

Nice to learn I'm not the only owner that has or had an uneven loader...🕵 I used mine to push a 8" x 60' cherry in a safe dir while I made a humbolt face cut; the tree decided it was gonna do a swinging dutchman towards an out-building; the tree slipped btw the forks as I pushed it to a safe...

5 Reasons Why I Chose Mahindra

#1 reason for my choice was the honesty I found with the dealership; which incidently shut down shortly after they fulfilled the warranty & replaced the entire Transmission. They helped me "war-game" all the buying options... #2 reason was the mitzubishi Tier 2 engine. #3 was the tractor's...

    UTV - Trying to Decide

I can only think of adding one thing to the already posted replys; esp. the advice of getting a jeep (my next UTV). Look closely at the D.O.M. Looking back when I bought my 2008 model year in 2010. I didn't know any better; thought I was getting the current year's production, not something...

    3016; best place for mice

Hello everyone, I'm back after a 5 or 6 year hiatus. I've had good use out of my 2012 3016 HST. Its winter here in the NW Ore-gone Coast Range and time to bring the tractor into my shop for services. To my point; the mice liked to nest on top of the HST in front of the dip-stick, until I...
