Setting it on the hood wasn’t too bad on my JD1120. But that high fender stuff, with a cab is hilariously bad. It’s nice to just be able to walk up and fill the tank with a cab from the ground.. It also makes gravity bulk tanks less ridiculous to put together as they can be lower if needed.

Oh man I forgot about the 4052 and the high fender refuel. That was the other major no go besides the door seals falling off on the lot for me and my wife who has a bad back.

Hydro noise IS something I strongly considered while tractor shopping. It is why I cross shopped Deere, they actually publish cab dB readings. It’s pretty quiet on my MF except during dramatic power changes but that’s to be expected.

I was shopping for a similar sized tractor recently. I cross shopped: -Branson 20 series hydro cab -JD4052R hydro/cab - Massey 2850M hydro/cab I ended up with the Massey for a multitude of reasons. If you have a good Massey dealer nearby it’s worth a look.

Some tractors like Branson don’t use extra fuel injected to create heat. They are completely passive if you run the tractor hard enough. Also some that can inject, don’t inject, if you run it hard enough. I would be surprised if a modern 50hp tractor would use anymore fuel than an older 50hp...

Lower rpm doesn’t always mean less fuel used, especially if the engine is designed to operate efficiently at an rpm that works with other emissions equipment.

Interestingly the cab models aren’t quite as tall as the ROPS models on the tractors I’ve been considering. The ROPS gets even taller when you add a canopy. So for me the choice was pretty simple in my mature pecan orchards, cabbed tractor. Now the factory just needs to deliver it[emoji23]

Look into how aircraft are kept rust free. Lots of washing and applying corrosion preventive compound on unpainted items you want to protect. There are also certain wash compounds meant to neutralize salt that are used in snow belt car underbodies. I’ve not tried them, however.

Mowed for 6 hours today. Temp stayed right at 170-180 despite it being 90 degrees and running at full pto rpm for a good cut.

So the radiator didn’t do the trick. It was still running quite warm. I found the culprit and replaced it! Now it’s hard to to get it hot on a cool evening. I’ll mow tomorrow in the 90s so we shall see.

Those “nuts” are bushings And I was mistaken, the cheaper pieces are the friction disks according to the manual(which I reread after misreading)

My 1120’s throttle won’t hold its setting/position so I believe the friction disks are worn. I don’t see any procedures for adjustment in the manual and new friction disks are $68. A PIECE! Anyone have any other fixes or ideas I should/could try?
