My speedometer burnt out a couple of years ago but I don't like going much faster than 5 mph on my land. Bent Belt Tightener Pulley Arm Ventrac

    HG150 Generator no/low voltage

Seems like you may have been using this in a power outage if it powers a walk-in freezer and walk-in cooler. Do these units have a plug or are they hard wired to the mains? Is the generator completely isolated from the mains when you are running it?

    Scraper

Years ago I asked to see if anyone had used a scraper on their Ventrac and got limited response. I finally got the time and nerve up. Took off the extra weights in the rear and hooked it up. Made sure that the scraper was well under the weight limits of the three point hitch. Turned out...

    Worst problem with 8 tires

After rain I went out to cut more drainage in my trails when the clay bunched up in between the tires. This was terrible to clean out using a hose and a stick. I'd be curious if this has happened to you? You may be asking why I did this after a rain and the answer is with mostly clay, there...

Be careful not to mix units. I think you are referring to 58 percent slope which is equal to just a hair over 30 degree slope.

    Briggs Vanguard 23 in a Steiner 420

Here is the Vanguard 23hp manual Check out page 10, right side column, half way down talks about 15 degree limit. It doesn't mention serial numbers - so your mileage may vary :sneaky:

    Briggs Vanguard 23 in a Steiner 420

I did some more digging and found "a manual" from Vanguard. Now to be clear, I don't know if the engines have changed over the years or which exact serial numbers, etc.. But the manual I found said it could operate up to 15 degrees of tilt. However it did not specify which direction. On my...

    Briggs Vanguard 23 in a Steiner 420

One thing you may want to chase down, depending on how you intend to operate the tractor is the angle rating of the motor they installed. The Vanguard specs say the oil pickup is "centrally located" for "higher angle of operation" but don't say exactly to what angle.

    Briggs Vanguard 23 in a Steiner 420

I don't know the 420 or this Briggs engine, but according to this page the two never existed together. I would be concerned about what they did to get it to work. My personal experience with other "mash-ups," like cars has not been positive.🦨

    Bucket snow removal fail

Here in TN there just isn't enough snow to justify one. Besides that, I have a very long gravel drive which isn't ideal with a snow blower.

    Rear attachment question

I rather thought that the Ventrac / Steiner method of central articulation prevented something like a box blade to be used. Mainly because as the tractor performs a turn, the box blade would have to slide a bit sideways. The sharper the turn, the worse these forces are on the tractor. I've...

    Bucket snow removal fail

The freak snowstorm left a few inches of snow on top of sleet on my gravel driveway. Tried to use my 4500p with bucket to remove it and was very disappointed. First put the bucket in float and with the bucket in several positions, mostly flat. Some snow would ball up in front of the bucket...

Fixed: Gremlins cracked my Hydraulic Hose Keeper on Halloween!

Walking past the Ventrac today, I noticed the hydraulic hose for the front attachment was touching the front right tire even though it was in the "hose keeper." I currently have the leaf blower attachment connected. So I tried to reposition the hose when I found the hose keeper kept moving back...

Draining water and sediment from fuel tank

I have the 4500P, which is the Kawasaki (gas) engine. The manual says to "drain water and sediment from fuel tank" AS NEEDED or yearly. I didn't find any procedure to follow for this. Also checked around the fuel tank and didn't find a sump to open. Has anyone done this or have a slick way to...

    Tow a car?

I live with a 14 degree gravel driveway. The steep part is probably 50 yards long. My Ventrac has been great grooming the gravel with the landscape rake and blowing leaves off with the blower, etc. While no one has gotten completely stuck, many people have had to back down the drive and make...

Recommendations for the 4500 stump grinder

I've been considering the stump grinder for the 4500. The YouTube videos of it seem like it runs well and works quickly. However that mirror in the front looks odd. Is that hard to get used to? Is it difficult to mount on the tractor? Thanks in advance.

Stick brazing with carbon electrode and flux coated bronze rod.

I have some of those carbon electrodes for gouging with a stick welder and wondered if I could turn the amperage down and maybe sharpen the carbon rod and use it with flux coated bronze rods to braze some non structural steel together. Seems like it should work. Sort of a gas-less poor man's tig...

    Ventrac diy skid log attachent

I've been working on this idea for a while. I bought a draw bar to put in the 3 pt and sort of expanded on that from there. My idea here was since the arms are so low to the ground anyway, I would bolt wheels on it so that when in "float" the tractor would not need to "hold" the arms up...

    Small carry box

I'm always inspired by the new ideas on implements with the Ventrac. Here is my take on a small carry box for a chainsaw or like size. I got an extra long top link and a drawbar for the three point and the rest is reclaimed steel. I'm more or less finished here but will put a piece of plywood...

TIG Braze problems on cast iron

Here is a cast iron (most likely) chuck that cracked and was fixed but not well enough. I've decided to make it into a welding positioner by brazing a 3/4" hot rolled pipe to it to make sure it cannot be chucked into a lathe ever again. Cleaned all parts, angle grinder wire wheel, then acetone...

Tig Weld what went wrong and whats next

I hear all of your concerns. I do like the welding positioner idea. Sandman, awesome creativity! Your right though, in a few years "I" will probably forget that I fixed it and chuck it up again so yea probably not worth keeping it around. So the original reason it cracked is because it spun...

Tig Weld what went wrong and whats next

Thanks for the replys! Tap with hammer and real dull thud. Grinding did not like to spark at all but if it did, I would call it deep red. But with a small dremel it didn't spark at all. Only with the 4 1/2" grinder did I get anything. Filler rod was ER705-2 1/16. Really thought I got good...

Tig Weld what went wrong and whats next

The chuck on my wood lathe spun off and hit the ground cracking it. I decided to try and tig weld it. I used my Klutch DC tig welder at about 60 amps. The weld looked really good after but then I decided to grind it to make it smooth again. This uncovered the porosity. I realized that it is a...

    Surprise Lug Nut Torque

So I'm doing the 100 hr service on my 4500P and re-torque inner lug nuts sounded like a whole lotta work for no pay off. I mean that I've heard of lug nuts on cars coming loose but it just didn't seem like it was worth the effort, but I did it anyway. I'm glad I did! First surprise on my...

    Intermittent noise solved

I've been hearing an intermittent noise on my 4500p that was solved today. The noise would sound quite loud like a squeaky fan belt that was coming from the front right wheels. However, I could only hear it when in low gear traveling almost as fast as the machine would go and then not always...

    Scraper and 4500P

I have this scraper I've been debating what to do with it. My 4500P does have a 3 point hitch but my gut says this 6 foot scraper is just too big. I realize that I would most likely need a shorter top link to be able to tilt the blade up enough to carry it from place to place. I'm thinking...

    Attaching KA160 Blower SOLVED

Just bought the KA160 blower for my 4500 and was very pleased with the way it worked. However, if I just disconnected it on the ground, it was very very low for the front forks to pick it back up again. If I put it on a pallet, it became too high. So did some measuring and came up with this...
