    Brown Tree Saw

Brwon says the cutting edge is good for 200 to 300 hours of cutting time. The edges, which are carbide, can be rotated 3 times, so each cutter has a life of 800 to 1200 hours. I think that will enough for what I'm doing.

    Brown Tree Saw

It'll make an 8 inch cut. If the tree is bigger, cut from one side and then cut from the other side. Most of the cedars are 6 to 12 inches. Cost is $6k delivered. That's a lot but I figure I can sell it and recoup some of the cost when I'm finished. The key thing is that it'll allow me to put...

    Brown Tree Saw

I would be using the New Holland TN 65 which has 47 HP at the PTO. Brown suggests at least 30 HP so I'm good in that regard. I also have a grapple for the tractor. Maybe I can sell it to you after I finish?? LOL.

    Brown Tree Saw

Thanks for all the input. The tree saw cuts at ground level, so stumps would not be an issue. The biggest drawback that I have gathered is the constant turning around in my seat. I've had neck and back surgery so that would be an issue. BTW, the saw costs $6K delivered. That's another major...

    Brown Tree Saw

The field is about 16 acres. I plan to burn the trees once they are piled up. I don't want to bull doze or pull up the trees because of the resulting holes that would leave. The field would then be used for pasture with yearly bush hogging.

Talked to one of their reps a few weeks ago at the Southern Farm Show in Raleigh NC. After some quick calculations, the cost was near the price of the ag lime by the time you factor in the cost of the shipping and equipment to spray the liquid.

    Cattle- accounting - tax issue

Don't need an accountant. IRS Schedue F is very easy. Also, if you purchased the supplies within the last 3 years, you could claim them on an amended return, Schedule X. There is no need to over complicate this. Just my 2 cents.
