Short update: Still works great. Haven't tore up anything, not even the jacks. I've done dozens of customer jobs including <12" stump removal, bushes, rocks, drainage & electrical install. Worth every bit of the time I spent working on it. The only upgrade I've made is a better travel stop...
I stumbled across a listing on Facebook marketplace; someone was parting out a Kobelco SS60 walk behind micro excavator. After a month or so of negotiation I brought home the chassis, hoe arm & hydraulics for $400 bucks.
Although the factory backhoe for my Kubota B1700 (B4672) is a 3pt mount...
Design criteria.
Quick to take on and off
Variable weight to suit counter balance needs
Needs tool holders
Prefer low CG
This is what I came up with:
My 3pt forks/trailer mover lives on the tractor. The idea was to design a ballast weight that I could back up to, scoop up and use without...
I've had good luck with my rear 3p fork system lifting upwards of 1300lb. Since my FEL is only good for 660lb using the receiver forks and 2x2x3/16 tubing was a no-brainer.
Outside recivers = normal pallets.
One outside & center receiver = skinny pallets
Center receiver = trailer ball, log...
Found a set of R4's on rims with the same bolt pattern locally.
Sourced some 15x10 6 on 6 steel wheels from Hey Wheel. $191 Shipped.
Opted for some truck tires in 33x12.5R15 found on Craig's list.
Made some custom wheel spacers to get the fronts to the proper backpacking.
Hey guys. I'm 30 miles away from my tractor and just realized I have conflicting information in my notes. On top of that I'm headed 90 miles this afternoon to buy wheels...
Does anyone know know bolt pattern on the front of a 1996 B1700?
I have in my notes both 6 on 4.5" and 6 on 4.75"
With the availability of cheap (or in my case, free) model specific garden tractor snow blowers I started toying with the idea of modifying one to be a 3pt blower.
I picked up a 42" deere front mount blower. The impeller was designed to turn counter clockwise at apx 1600 rpm. To achieve...
Background:
I have a Kubota B1700 with no PTO attachments.
I'm currently building a rear PTO snowblower.
I got a sweet deal ($60.00) on a new Series 4 PTO shaft with slip clutch. (See picture)
Because I'm building the snowblower I can choose the distance between tractor output shaft &...
I should clarify, I was assuming trading rims and tires if they were available.
I will try to give the dealers a call, but I'm guessing that route will be cost prohibitive.
From what I've seen so far the turf size rims are more expensive than I was expecting and due to their diameter/width...
I use my set of small 3pt forks to lift 800-1k. Based on the weight of the mast itself I'm going to keep a close eye on it lifting over 500lbs.
It's not going to end moving tons of pellets, but it sure beats unloading steel or or bags of mulch from the truck bed by hand.
I've wanted to build this for years, but never found the right parts forklift. That was until a few weeks ago.
It's a little on the heavy side weighing in at 500lb empty, but I plan on doing some weight reduction in the coming weeks.
The forks offer a 6ft lift height, not including the lift...
I have a 90's Kubota B1700 with AG tires and want to trade for a set of turfs.
Rears are in good shape, comes with new spare tube
Fronts are brand new (less than 5 hours)
Picked up this 95/96 B1700 with LA301 Loader. I've wanted a orange loader tractor for years!
Didn't take long and it's already in the shop for some work.
18hp 3cyl diesel
249 original hours, hour meter works!
Hydrostatic with high, medium and low range
Diff lock
Individual brakes
Rear PTO (540rpm)
Mid PTO (2000rpm)
Custom high lift / high capacity 3pt arms
1000lb 3pt lift
60" mid mower
Recent oil change
New alternator
New hydraulic filters
New...
Put a little time on both my machines. Deutz took care of the trailer moving and the lo-boy did the heavy lifting.
The project: custom mount for a customers leaf vacuum.
So I'm installing a 2 spool valve on my tractor to be used for AUX circuits. I currently have no equipment with specific style/type quick disconnect. Most will accessories will be low flow if that factors in at all.
Is there one particular type that is universal among tractors /...
Added some sweet amber/ white signal lights to the ROPS bar.
I opted for heavy duty velcro to mount them, now their "break away".
Safety Strobes Deutz Allis 5215 - YouTube
Took 20 min to change mine.
Pulled fuel filter & hose > made cardboard funnel > removed drain bolt > drained > pulled fill cover > flushed a little with some random clean oil > drained > filled with 6oz of 30w and a little Lucas oil stabilizer > reinstalled cover > hooked up fuel and bled >...
I always keep my eye open for weight of all kinds. A few years back I found a bunch of these 10-15lb cast iron stack weights. I made a couple brackets and added 140lbs to the front end of my deutz.
I've come to love my hydraulic top link on my IH Lo-Boy 185, so much so that it's going to be standard equipment on all my machines.
I wasn't lucky enough to have the optional aux circuits on my Deutz-Allis 5215, but I plan on adding some.
The plan:
A.) Interrupt the pump output and run it...
Since 99% of my tractor work is moving trailers or hauling pallets around a functioning 3PT is a MUST for any of my machines. When I picked up my Deutz it didn't have lower arms or lift links. I attempted to source some from Ward's Brothers, but they valued the originals at $500 bucks, which...
I experimented with a hitch design very similar to this on my IH Cub Lo-Boy 185 a few years ago. It has worked out so good I had to build a 2nd one for my recently picked up a Deutz-Allis 5215
99% of my tractor usage is moving pallets or trailers around the yard. This utility hitch is...
I've had my Deutz-Allis 5215 HST for a month or so now and I've put on a few hours. During this time I've noticed what I would consider "excessive, but not extreme" vibration below 800 RPM and Above 1800 RPM. While I wish I had payed more attention in the beginning I do not recall it having...
Due to the lack of available information on the Deutz-Allis 5215 I'm going to start this thread to give a central place to link all my 5215 projects, questions & repairs during the lifetime of my tractor.
My plan is to create separate forum posts for each project and and link them below.

I picked this up awhile back to have as a parts tractor and need to make room for more projects.
The motor is seized, but the transmission was rebuilt prior to the engine problems. The rear tires have a little dry rot, but their 40 years old and still hold air. Hydraulic system seems to be...

I picked up a Deutz-Allis 5215 this past weekend with under 300 hours (and the HR meter till works).
3 Cyl Diesel, 2wd, HST
Naturally with any "new" tractor purchase there's a bit of a learning curve and a lot of information to absorb.
From what I've read parts can be difficult to find, any...
Seems every other day I have to pick up or move something heavy. I toyed with the idea of retrofitting my garden tractor with some kind of bucket, but opted to find something with a more robust frame as it would be a better foundation. About 6 months ago I picked up a 1975 IH Lo-Boy 185 w/ 3...
About 2 weeks ago I got stuck in my driveway in 3/4" of snow. That's right, less then 1" stopped my '75 Cub lo-boy in her tracks. As an engineering tech and fab shop owner I have an uncontrollable urge to tweak / modify everything so it didn't take long before I was looking for ways to improve...
Little bit about myself: I'm a tool designer by day & run my own fab / machine shop in the evenings. I got into tractors a few years back by modifying a lawn/garden tractor with a custom built 3 point system. I used it with a custom 36" box blade to do a few earth moving jobs around the yard...
