Fuel filter housing weakness (just another user mistake?)

The fuel filter housing is susceptible to damage from below. Doing some downed tree clean up I caught a branch between the frame and motor it hit the FF housing. It rotated 90 degrees breaking off the output nipple. It's a simple fix. Just one bolt for the housing and two snap rings for the...

Possible answer to Yamaha Kodiak starting/running problems

Before replacing/cleaning the carburetor check the Intake Joint O ring. Suddenly my 2005 Kodiak 450 started having problems starting and running. It acted like it was running out of fuel and leaning out with hard start. I immediately thought it was the carburetor needing a cleaning, so...

GC owners get the skid plate

I did not, but do now have the skid plate for my GC2400. I knocked the hydraulic filter off the tractor, and when this happens it often takes the filter nipple with it. That nipple is cast into the front transmission plate. The traditional repair is to replace the plate, and it is expensive...

    Evaluation of snow removal tools

I've tried nearly all. My exception is a rear mounted blower which I have not used, but I have had/used back blade, front end loader, front mounted snow blower and a snow plow/blade. My experience shows the plow/blade is hands down the best. It is the most flexible as far as snow depth/type...

Built a Kubota-based snow plow for my GC 2400

The build description is in the "Build it yourself", but I wanted to identify the differences between the two quick attach versions. I found a new Kubota quick attach male portion for 1/2 price on that "E"sales site. They are not totally identical to the MF version, but easily adaptable. The...

I was mowing yesterday and noticed a strange smell. Smelt like something was very hot. Shut it off and looked at the MMM, and saw smoke coming from the idler pulley. Called my Massey dealer, a very good Guy, and he said the part will be in Thursday. While taking off the pulley decided that I...

    Part Number for Tach Cable

Anyone have the part number for the GC2400 tach cable? Next question: Why the heck did they run it all over the tractor? Mine comes out to the right side of the tach. Turns and goes down below the battery box. Turns and goes across the tractor to the left side. Turns and goes forward...

    Massey GC2400 Snow Throwing Cab

I had this up on the Massey Ferguson thread and decided to also summarize it here for another audience. The cab is made of wood and Plexiglas. The mounts are designed for the MF GC23/400 series, but the cab is capable of being used on any tractor once mounting is resolved. It did not require...

    2360 ready to go

Finally got around to finishing the 2360 set up. It took about 6 hours. We had a 1 3/4 inch snow Thursday, so thought it best to get it ready. A note for those of you who have gravel/stone drives, the feet may be too short. I went through two shear bolts in first pass of drive from stones...

Picked up my MF 2360 snowblower today. It was, of course, near 90 degrees. Haven't done anything with it but to take the plastic cover off the main crate. Nice bright MF red. I have done my best to save the midatlantic from snow this winter.

Your experience needed on new GC2400

GC2400 is not a little over a week old, and I have these questions. 1) does your fuel gauge work? Mine doesn't seem to read anything when tank is past 1/2 full. 2) What engineer designed those turn signal lights and placed them outboard on the ROPS. The seem to love tree limbs. I have...

Starts Great After New Glow Plugs

Thanks to Aaron at Hoyes tractor. The glow plugs were not exactly what I replaced, but he assured me that they were correct. They are! Boy, what a difference. It was 32 this AM & I started the beast in @ 2 revolutions. Before it would take 2-3 minutes of grinding to get her running. Sweeeeet!

    F Series Glow Plugs

Yes, some of the later model tractors have glow plugs. My impression is they burn out frequently. I'm in the process of replacing all three. Got them from Hoye tractor. Also, the voltage regulator seems to burn out easily. Mine went and when I took the old one out the screws attaching it to...
