I run a 60" Braber on my Kubota BX2200. Never any issues with 3'+ snow. I also run a 62" Woodmaxx Flailmower on my BX2200. Mowed 3'+ grasses without issue. Would I like a bigger machine? Of course, but my BX2200 hasn't complained about lifting or turning those two heavy implements.

Only thing I've found in my land has been arrow heads, trash, and my golf balls. I found that golf balls versus flail mowers gets interesting.

My guess would be check chains for a machine that didn't have a conventional check chain system.

One of my neighbors had a 1988 Yamaha Terrapro ATV that had a PTO with a finish mower. Pretty neat little machine.

Make sure the PTO shaft slides in and out freely. If it don't take it apart and grease it. I would look at changing some of those bolts to grade 8 at minimum if they aren't.

You could always pull out the flapper rod, and replace the flaps with chain. I failed to mention my Woodmaxx has chains for guard instead of the metal flaps.

From experience, you'll want hammer knives for what you doing. Y-grass knives are for what they say... grass. From mowing a regular lawn to tall grasses and very minor 1/2" or less saplings. While it's more of a pain, I prefer bolts to hold the knives in.

I'll say this from my experience... when I run a finishing mower and my grass is long, my machine doesn't mow where the tires ran over the grasses. Just doesn't have the same suction as the flail mower does. When I use my flail mower, I don't have that problem, which is why I prefer using it...

There are 3x gates belts on my Woodmaxx FM-62. No wear and I have about 25 hours on it.

Both knives will cut grass. However, the Y knives allow for to get mulched a little better. I run Y knives on my lawn grass and the cut it provides is superb.

You take it off and either fix it yourself (get the parts from a local hydraulic shop) or have the hydraulic shop repair it. My local hydraulic shop can fix anything hydraulic even eons old.

Virismo is a good brand. I bought a Woodmaxx only because they are within driving distance if I needed parts down the line. So far, so good!

One thing to note, mulching requires a lot more HP. You may need to go slower to actually get a good cut. Or cut more often like mikester said.

Only other problem with tow behind is the fact that you can't lift it over stumps and other debris/hazards. It's fine for areas that you know what's hidden below.

I don't have a picture, but I have a 3pt trailer mover, and I bought a Harbor Freight hitch cargo carrier and got my welder and added taller sides to it from plate steel. Best part about it, I can put my trailer hitch in it, and also pull a trailer so I don't loose functionality!

I use my trailer mover on my 3pt with a chain to lift out posts and small trees/shrubs. Works extremely well. If I don't want to damage a 4x4 or 6x6 post upon retrieval, I use a heavy duty nylon tow strap and put a couple turns around the post and then lift it out of the ground.

I seen a 3pt plugger in action at a local college of mine in action on a JD 4320 doing a baseball field. In some parts of the field, they were backing up to the fence with it in the ground then going forwards. Obviously not turning -- doing it straight.

Yes reverse-till/counter-rotating tines is the best way to go in 66" for that size machine. Just make darn sure your slipper clutch is well operating before each use. Tilling in clay or rough soil is hard on a machine, so you'll want to direct that power into a narrower area for optimal results.

I'm from around the OP's neck of the woods... really we just got Clinton Tractor, Caz Equipment, and Whites... I did some quick checking and no front snow blowers for that model. But I'd call Clinton and maybe they can shed some light on it.

Oh trust me, I am happy. I take very, very good care of my flail mower. Gets cleaned and greased up right after I get done using it, and I even throw some wax it at the end of the season. It gets stored inside my barn in a place where nothing will hit or damage it.

You will notice a huge difference with the Y knives. Generally speaking you'll hit your area up with the hammer knives to clear it out of brush and saplings. Then you mow it with the Y knives thereafter or as needed. Think of it as hammer knives as a bush hog, and Y knives as a finish mower.

Personally Betstco and Woodmaxx will be your best choice for parts. I went with Woodmaxx because if I got in a true bind, I could load it onto my trailer and take it over to their facility and they can repair it at my cost.

FWIW, I run a 62" on a BX2200. Woodmaxx FM62 at 650#with Y grass knives. Turns it just fine and it mows very, very nicely. I would do 84" on a MX5000. I would also go with Y grass knives. You'll also be able to use it to mow your lawn.

Have you tried getting the rotor shaft fixed? A competent drive line shop should be able to straighten it and also add counter weights to it to remove any vibrations. In fact, that might be all you are missing are the appropriate weights. It's no different than a drive shaft on a truck.

Yes they will. (Not going to go too deep into the maths, but it involves geometry). You want to cut it so where both half shafts are equal to avoid vibration. You'll see when you raise and lower the implement and measure it with the measuring device.

I use those water containers on my truck. I'll fill them up from my pond then drive my truck around the yard to use gravity to water the plants. It's just right flow, especially for the veggie garden where high pressures would not be good for the plants.

They are referring to the same thing I'm referring to. It's the hub case where the bevel gears are that change the direction of the rotation from the prop shaft to the wheels.

I see so many machines on lots and in people's yards with bent buckets and tweaked loader arms. This also includes skid steers. Tractors and skid steers aren't bulldozers or forklifts. I've had my tractor for 22 years now and the loader is in the exact functional shape as when I bought it.

My Braber snow blower was the same way. I wound up using my sand blaster and doing a light strip on it, then cleaned it up. I then got my HVLP sprayer and repainted it. Let it dry all summer, fall, and into the winter and the paint is holding up perfect.

My flail does this too, but not too bad. Heck even my rotary mower does it. Just the weight of the tractor pushing down on the grass. If you want even cut, you'll need to do two passes in opposing directions.

The older BX's, especially the BX2200 that was pretty much metal everything was, in my opinion, the best model year. I keep looking at L3901 and L4701 machines, and I can't get over the amount of plastic on a piece of equipment.

If not greased every 10-15 hours, the bearings will wear out a lot quicker. Also, if you let the bearings go, you will wind up wallowing out the pulley bosses by a couple thousand and that will also cause vibration issues, even with new bearings. Which will actually make the new bearings fail...

I got to use my flail mower today on 3'+ tall grasses. I was surprised as to how well my little BX2200 with the Woodmaxx FM62 w/Y grass knives handled the task. No problems and mulched up everything perfectly. I love my flail mower and my BX2200!

^^ That is very true! I just rebuilt mine last year because the pulley bosses had too much slop thus destroying bearings in 100 hours or less. Also -- this is imperative -- Make sure you align the shaft correctly or else NO grease will flow.
