Need help reassembling front axle bearing seals on 2555CL HST

I managed to figure it out. The one seal has o-ring facing and seated in the outside of axle/spindle (part 34), and the other has o-ring facing and seated in the cover (part 20). In the end, the metal backing of the two seals will be facing each other. Getting them squished into the parts...

Need help reassembling front axle bearing seals on 2555CL HST

I've disassembled one side after the snap ring failed and the wheel fell off. I've replaced the bearings, axle, and cover. But during the reassembly, I'm just stymied on how to get the two seals where they belong. According to the expanded view, PN 17 should go between the inside of the cover...

    3pt hitch - 5th wheel/gooseneck

Thanks for all the details. My RV has a 5th wheel king pin, not a gooseneck. What appeals to me about firedog's approach is that I can utilize my boxblade by simply welding on a cylindrical metal sleeve and a flat disc. Gotta say, that "tractor" of yours in the photos looks neat.

    3pt hitch - 5th wheel/gooseneck

Hate to revive a 10yo thread, but man does this hit the spot. I'm taking delivery of a 30' 5er that will likely spend the rest of its days on my property. Without a 3/4 or 1 ton to move it, my intent is to use the tractor when needed. It is amazing to think that there are so few solutions -...

2016 Mahindra 2555CL HST failed pump? Powertrain warranty covered?

Thanks @Sergei1. I went to the dealer to pick her up today. I spoke both with the service advisor and the technician. When I asked the tech if there was any way to test the HST to verify it's not what's caused the external pump to fail, he said he didn't know of any way. My concern is that...

2016 Mahindra 2555CL HST failed pump? Powertrain warranty covered?

My apologies for the delayed follow-up. I just heard from dealer. They said it was ready for pickup. I asked if they tested the "internal" hydraulic pump to make sure it's operating at 100%. The tech said he didn't think my model has an internal pump - and that all hydraulics (lifting and...

2016 Mahindra 2555CL HST failed pump? Powertrain warranty covered?

Alright, here's the latest. Service manager called today to inform me that the pump is the external one, and is therefore not covered under warranty. Parts, including flushing and replacing fluids, gaskets and other incidentals, is just over $1k. They estimate 3 hours labor at $82/hr. So...

2016 Mahindra 2555CL HST failed pump? Powertrain warranty covered?

The original owner (my deceased neighbor) purchased it in Feb of 2016. So I missed the cutoff for the 7-year. There's a badge on the hood that says 5-year powertrain. I always seem to miss by an inch. Let's hope that's not the case tomorrow when I learn whether this pump is covered.

2016 Mahindra 2555CL HST failed pump? Powertrain warranty covered?

I have not had a chance to speak with the service manager since my last post, but when I do I will ask her specifically which pump, and where it's located. I'll report back as soon as I know more. I appreciate the input (with the exception of hijacking the thread with covid politics)...

2016 Mahindra 2555CL HST failed pump? Powertrain warranty covered?

I bought her from the original owner, and it was right around 150 hours. I did a full filter and fluid change at 430 hours, and it's around 440 now. I think I may still have the old filters. I have to check my bin in my barn. Good thinking. As far as the location of the pump, that's what...

2016 Mahindra 2555CL HST failed pump? Powertrain warranty covered?

Yes, I saw that - $814 for the part. I just wonder where that part is located (is it internal?). I have a neighbor who has his own garage - and he's done tractor work. He's going to research what's involved, but feels pretty confident that it's internal, and would require "splitting" the...

2016 Mahindra 2555CL HST failed pump? Powertrain warranty covered?

That's what I think as well. But, after reading the powertrain warranty on their website, it does exclude hydraulic components (naming hoses and cylinders, but not explicitly the pump). Fingers are crossed.

2016 Mahindra 2555CL HST failed pump? Powertrain warranty covered?

I suppose I could have been clearer on the title. I was just trying to identify the model (HST vs. shuttle) in the title. There is nothing specific to the HST that is problematic - though since the weakness and slowness has advanced, I did notice that it seems to have a slower top end, and...

2016 Mahindra 2555CL HST failed pump? Powertrain warranty covered?

Since early last year, I have noticed a decrease in speed and power. Having no other point of reference other than my memory, I just figured I wasn't remembering properly. By September of last year, it got to the point that I really felt something was wrong. I spoke with the service manager...

2016 2555CL FEL bracket bolts snapped... What a nightmare...

Well, the problem is with the frame. The hole I borked is on the frame of the tractor. The threads are in the hole, and the bolt clamps the bracket down. There are two holes on each side. One is a through-hole - where you can access the back of the bolt from the other side of the frame...

2016 2555CL FEL bracket bolts snapped... What a nightmare...

Right up front, let me say this is operator error. I did not know checking the loader bracket bolts was something to do - but will from now on. After having been told by several internet folk I should have RTFM, I did just that, but found no specific reference to the loader bracket bolts, or...

    Blade bolt advice needed...

I was helping to clear some <2" pine trees for a neighbor for the last two days. At some point, the hitch bar on my tractor worked itself loose, lost the pin, and dropped into the mow area. I saw the shiny round hitch ball and thought, "That's an odd place to put a Christmas ornament."...

2555CL HST sizzling hot transmission. Causes?

I drove my tractor about 2 miles, WOT in H with backhoe attached. Route is slightly hilly, and it seemed to slow more than normal. By the end of the trip I smelled burning plastic/paint. Upon further inspection, I found the tranny on the left was hot enough to sizzle spit. The paint is gone...

    Leaking oil from cooler?

I guess this is not a common issue. I received the replacement oil cooler with FedEx today. $220 w/shipping, no tax from Big Red's Parts in TX. Getting to the cooler wasn't particularly easy, as it involved removing the battery, the frame above the battery, the ECU, and the AC compressor...

Swapped power outlet (12V) for a power meter with QC3.0 USB charger [pics]

This probably won't get most excited, but for the gadget geeks among us, it may be a worthwhile mod. While a plug-in power adapter to USB charger is certainly an option (they even have the kind that will provide power readings), I wasn't having much luck with mine staying put. Whether...

Stupid question: Where do I check/add oil?

It's embarrassing, but I'm left scratching my head after reading the manual. There's mention of motor oil port (and dipstick), as well as transmission oil dipstick. But what about hydraulic fluid? Is it safe to assume the HST transmission uses the same hydraulic fluid as what lifts loads...

I know, I know, it doesn't look dramatic on video, but sitting in the cab sure left an impression. I was going nice and slow with 1540 lbs of concrete bags on a plastic pallet. I was going to go left, but the drive slopes ever so slightly to the right. In an instant, the rear tire was up and...

Rather than blindly buying something I think might work from Amazon, I thought I'd ask the community - what do you guys use to blow air from the engine-side of the radiator to the outside? I'm assuming some kind of wand with a 90ー tip? Looking to thoroughly clean all FOUR of the stacked...

    Leaking oil from cooler?

Today I used the tractor to remove a gravel pile that was used as a berm to seal off a secondary driveway entrance. When I put her away, I noticed oil just below the driver's side engine panel, on the frame. Upon removing it, I found what looks like a leak on one of the FOUR coolers stacked...

Ok, since you asked :) I just asked my 5yo boy (he's 37" tall) to stand next to it and wave at the security camera. What should I do w/my Woods 3PH backhoe?

When I bought my second-hand 2555CL, it came with about 10 implements, including a 1986 Woods BH7500-1. It had a leaking hose - which I've replaced - and the boom cylinder is bent (but functional). The dipper cylinder has an internal leak that lets it drop about 1" per second. The power to...

Am I using my tractor properly? (Video)

So I had a toy barn built and am in the finishing stages. I had a load of gravel dropped and used my 2555 to spread it out in the dirt between the concrete apron and the existing gravel loop. Power steering unable to steer with full bucket and no movement. Is that normal?

May just be a case of extreme noobness, but today was the first time I had the bucket filled with 1/2" gravel. It was heavy, but not enough to lift the rear tires off the ground. When I got to the point where I wanted to drop the load, I needed to inch to the left. As I tried to turn the...

Need help understanding PTO shaft designs
